The over-inflated market

Comments (13)

Before I start I want to get one thing straight, I do not think that my opinion is the only one, I'm happy to take other people's opinions into consideration as long as they are sane. I just cannot understand some people's stance with regards to transfers into this club during the summer. People are desperate for players to come in, and I for one would like to see some fresh faces as well.

But at what cost? We've all seen that the transfer market is over-inflated and people, namely West Ham, are spending stupid money on players that would've been worth half that price last season. Even Sunderland have been getting in on the act. Can people honestly say that the prices being spent will actually benefit the clubs that are spending them?

Is it not better that we have a manager who would rather seek out players who can add value to club rather than panic buy at the first opportunity? We would never have had an Arteta if he hadn't have taken him on a try before you buy stance.

Even if we don't get anyone in other than what we've already got is that such a bad thing? People are saying we are going to fail if we don't buy players, are they sure that is what's going to happen? I'm not, I'd rather be positive and get behind the team and so should all the nay-sayers, because I guarantee they'll all have something to cheer about come August 11th.

But that's just my opinion and I welcome everyone else's.

Your right Steve,we have got a decent squad already but I do think there will be additions,I cant claim to know who but I have faith in Moyes and dare I say it the board aswell! Its so far been a bit of a negative summer with regards to Everton and I for one dont like it because im not negative! The squad, although no bigger than last season is still in my opinion better than last season!

Boys
How can the squad be better than last season??????
We have lost Fernandes Naysmith Simon Davies Kilbane Pistone Weir And Wright(questionable I know)and only replaced them with Jagielka And Pienaar (loan).

Fernandes is the only player out of that lot that played any meaningful part in our season! Naysmith was always injured,Davies was just a joke,Kilbane hadnt played well for ages,Wier had completly lost his legs and Wright and Pistone dont even deserve a mention! Plus Wier,Kilbane and Davies left ages ago so I wasnt even counting them, just the squad we finished the season with!

Steve. We have probably crossed swords on this topic before.
You are dead right about the over inflated prices being paid and i am in agreement that paying these prices would be detrimental to the club.
But i honstly believe it would be a bad thing if no more new faces come before the season starts.
To my mind, players should have been ear marked before the season was over. Even if they where loans or squad players, it just annoys me that we have to suffer the silence and conjecture that the club spews out.
We have said before that if they were honest with us whatever state the club was in, then we may have a bit more respect and backing for them.
I don’t think we have the squad to cope with a european campaign, as well as a full prem season. But i hope to god that our league form does not suffer at the cost of the UEFA cup, which is a distraction to my mind as i don’t think we have a cat in hells chance of winning it.
I’d much prefer winning one of the domestic cups, but that is my personal opinion.
But other than that, you are spot on.
Let the mercenary bastards go where they like. Wer’e better off without them.

Just watched UTUBE highlights of our Manny Fernandes who is repotedly going to be signed by Man City and felt like crying. This lad is going to be a world beater literally and my favourite clip was against the arsenal when he did Fabregas twice and put him on his arse. His signing is priorty not only for his skill but he gives the fans and players belief and I for one would be happy even if he was our only signing. We should have snapped him up even at 12m-6m this year 6m next year whatever just do the deal. We should take people on loan with a view to signing them if they impress which he clearly did not as a short term fix to tease the fans. Any doubters watch utube !

Blue Shaun,

Where did you hear that Man City are going to sign Manuel Fernandes? They signed another guy named Fernandes, but I haven’t seen Manny linked with them anywhere. Are you sure you have the right Fernandes?

On the NSNO website and its not the other one they ve already signed. Someone will buy him if we don t and invest wisely. Surely Kenwrong hasnt shut his pouch already we ve spent less than Bedford Town for Gods sake ! We simply can t compete-Moysey knoes how good a player he is he isnt stupid and it must be fustrating searching the gutter for bargain players.

If you think its bad for signings now wait untill BK signs up for the Kirkby deal. There will be even less money to spend on players and the teams fortunes will take a massive dip.Lets get the football side of things going in the right direction before we move anywhere and stay where we are for now. Sooner play at Goodison with s decent side and possibly attractan investor than move out to Knowsley with a shit squad and no future.Let Goodison Park live on for a few more years I say.Beats Kirkby any day.

I would hardly say that possibly signing Baines is searching the gutter. Also, please everyone, stop referencing nsno.co.uk. That is the absolute worst website. They said we had Nolan and Richardson in for medicals and signing autographs, except that Richardson was never there and Nolan was in Japan at the time. They also said we were not signing Pienaar and posted a quote by his agent as proof, only that quote was very old and was in reference to Man City’s past interest. That site is a complete joke and I don’t think it has been correct about one single thing.

Blue Shaun,

I mean no offense by what I said, just want you to be more aware at how poor a website that is for information.

the info about Manny is on other sites as well as NSNO, namely Man City sites, so the ’gossip’ comes from their own ’reliable sources’. If he does sign for them, well, I’ll be gutted. A player like him with such promise, it was bad enough us not signing him but for him to go to another Prem team is the pits. I don’t care if benfica did want £8 million or £12 million, he would be worth double that in a few years. I hope it’s not true but knowing the way we operate - make do with what w’ve got - I’m pretty certain we won’t see Manny in Royal Blue again. damn damn damn.
