The Mail Bag

No or Nil Vote

Comments (7)

I've been an advocate of leaving Goodison. My main reasons being the seating and facilities. I been looking at the old girl since 1960 and she's looking at bit like Rooney's ex ? haggered! I was a Kirkby voter but now I'm wavering, and looking for a realistic City option with Long Lane my No 1 and the tunnel loop a close second.

It did cross my mind, however, that if we all refused to return our ballot papers, what would be the outcome? It's probably pie in the sky but what would happen, exactly?

Same as every vote. Wyness will have his pocket full of yes men who will agree not to vote with all the NO voters but still send their forms in and you have given him the result he wants.

Mark don’t pin your hopes on either of those sites mate. The club have been aware of them and have considered them and neither are suitable as there are not the same commercial partners in place and the land is not free. Sometimes I wonder if people truly realise how extraordinary this Kirkby deal is. We have the chance of a new stadium for approx £25m - £35m because of a unique set of commercial circumstances. Anyone who thinks you can just find another site and the commercial side just falls into place is naive.

If this deal was for a site in Liverpool (albeit further from GP) we would all be delighted with it. As a club we have wasted too much time and too many opportunities. It is time we bit the bullet and moved forward with a project that is deliverable. That’s why I am voting yes to Kirkby.

Are Bestway not a commercial backer for a city site? And have Tesco ruled out being involved at any other site than Kirkby or will they only be involved if it is at Kirkby??

To the best of my knowledge the bestway site is only a fraction of the size of kirkby and could not accomodate the size of retail park that is generating the money for Tesco to donate to build the stadium.

Even if Betway offer to give us this land free of charge (and why would they?) who is going to pay foor the satdium to be built?

As for Tesco being involved with Everton in liverpool I dont think this would be a non starter but to match the Kirkby deal the land would have to be donated free and Bradley has come out and said he is not prepared to do that.

Everyone would prefer us to stay in the city but unless you get the same set of circumstances it just isn’t possible. The council are making the right noises by suggesting site we could have but they are either not free or not large enough or both. They are just trying to stop a yes vote to Kirkby by any means.

Are LFC not getting Stanley park on some sort of 199 year lease? If this is the case surely any site LCC finds for EFC would have to be on the same terms??

If I vote Yes will I get my season ticket posted to me in time for the start of the season?

Seamus, your so naive.

Since when have LCC treated EFC equally to our neighbours?
