Conspiracy

A lot has been written on this site with regard the ground move, for or against. Most with some valid points I might add. But one thing is bothering me and that is what lies ahead in the future. I personally think there is a lot more to this move than meets the eye. So here goes the conspiracy theory.

I can't help feeling that this is ther first step to Everton being taken over, lock stock and two smoking ones by Tesco. It has been well documented that TL has had an eye on investing in EFC for quite some time. But I think the location of the ground among other things has been the stumbling block. This to my mind is why the whole ground move is being pushed through with the help of our friends (Not!!) Tesco.

I have a feeling that, before we move in, there will be a takeover bid by the company and BK will hand it to them on a plate. Who knows what will happen then? They will have free reign to do whatever they please with the club and that includes ground name and yes team name among other things.

Remember what happened to Wimbledon, please don't say that will never happen to us we are bigger than that etc. Tesco could swallow us up in a heartbeat and it would not make a dent in their profits. I honestly believe there is a lot more to this move than meets the eye and I am certain that a takeover bid is part of the package. There is no such a thing as a free lunch and companies like Tesco do not get as big as they are by handing them out.

Intersting thought... I would seriously doubt that Tesco would want to take us over. But having Sir Terry personally buy up Billy's (and Earl's?) shares and help him on his way is indeed a possibility. And the effect you could artue would be the same... Evertonian Chairman. Or would it?

With an imagination as fertile as yours Dave, bedtime must be fun in your house. Have you ever thought of taking up writing as an occupation? You’d be marvellous at it.

I can’t honestly see Tesco buying Everton as a real possibility and I think Tesco shareholders would have a few questions to ask of TL if he personally bought Everton after Tesco had just given them a new stadium (conflict of interests anyone?)
I don’t know why people are always on the lookout for conspiracies. Happy to ignore facts reported in the press while taking rumour and conjecture at face value.
If BK and Wyness were up to half the dirty tricks people attribute to them they would be plotting 24/7 when in fact we all know that in reality they spend all their time looking for investment.

Is it well documented that Terry Leahy has had an eye on ivesting in Everton ? Where abouts ?

A for Tesco’s ’free lunch’, they’re building one of the biggest stores in the country as part of the Kirkby development on very favourable terms. Isn’t that what they’re getting out of it ?

What would Tesco gain from owning a football club?

"I see your carrots are a penny dearer than Morrisons. Is that because you spunked a load of money on buying and sponsoring a football club?"

TL as an individual? Possible but not likely. I suspect runing the countries largest retailer takes up most of his time.

Lads i may not be right about the finer points. But i honestly believe there is more to this alliance than meets the eye.
As for TL. He was approached about buying shares in the club, I know that from a close friend and honestly can say no more.
Like youre style Ste, you’re on my wavelength.
I will demand opologies all round. Even if i am half right!!!

It is common knowledge (or an urban myth) that with Terry being special advisor to Everton and Wyness, he was given some shares as part of the deal, now Wyness has asked Terry to expand on this deal and buy a substantial amount of shares and invest some cash in the club.

How true this is I don’t know, but I do agree with Dave, something about this whole deal and Terry being announced as a "special advisor" makes me think that something doesn’t ring true somewhere.

Leahy is a wealthy individual, but not rich enough to be a serious investor, so that one is a non-starter.
