McFadden out?

Comments (11)

I read an article today about the possiblity of Derby offering £4 million for James McFadden. Surely this is good business as the player although being tipped as a great prospect has failed to establish himself at Goodison Park. [Link]

It would be good business if we used the funds to buy another player in - but the reality is that the funds will pay off debt, or be used to pay off Jagielka’s fee or similar.

In which case, our already-threadbare squad will be even thinner.

Do you not think our squad is small enough without selling a talented forward?

Plus with Vaughen out we need all the striking options we can get.

Talented? he’s the biggest pile of shit since Beattie, if we sell both of them which could get us up to around £8million then we can get Smith and Baines. Two excellent signings, now I know we will only be left with Johnson, Smith and Anichebe for a few months, but thats where the 4-5-1 tactic becomes good use.

MacFadden is a striker..hes slated for his performances primarily on the wings. You cant compare a 6 million pound premiership product who has been more than humoured in terms of playing time in the position he supposedly excells in, with a 1.25 million forward who moyes has decided is a winger when he clearly isnt. Im a glaswegian who never really did the old firm thing..so supported the underdog and as such when motherwell played celtic i supported them. Its Macfadden’s gallus performance against their uefa cup finalist defence that made me curious how he would do with everton. Listened on radio to debut and looked for match reports online...as official sight was pap ended up on here (best independent football sight ive seen for any club)and bizarelly have now become an everton fan..maybe not a proper goodison diehard but a fan none the less. I just hope this season now with vaughn lost to injury again macfadden gets a chance to play up front some..to have a trier, capable of moments of genius, like him on the bench while burger kings poster boy is wallowing around in his 9 shirt seems rediculous......anyway bit of a rant...lets hope we have the ajax version of peinaar and he gives ver de whatever a slap, and they give us some total football action..

If they’re both so bad, how come we’d get £8M. I’m just hoping we can find the money for Smith regardless, and am naively hoping that as he hasn’t gone anywhere else, then the deal with us (as already rumoured) is already sewn up.

The sale of McFadden would potentially free up some much needed funds for a signing that may play more minutes over the duration of the season. At best Moysey is going to give the lad 10mins a game if he’s lucky. The addition of someone more useful to the squad will be more benefit tactically. If the funds are there to Purchase a Smith or Baines the numbers will be the same but we will at least get more use out of the player and at very little additional cost. It should be a win win situation.

Whilst i feel that our numbers are down as they always are, we still have a reliable core to the people we have and the versatility is there.

We shouldn’t sell McFadden, he’s class.

Everton have given McFadden more than enough time perform. Just because he played well in a sub standard league previous to his move doesn’t mean he can cutt it down south. One good strike a season doesnt make a class play.
And the fact of the matter is that he has the build of a 15 year old boy!! Not good enough. NSNO

McFadden is a great player, he just needs a regular run out rather than being put second place to Beattie. There is no way I would swap McFadden for that no hoper Smith, Smith has an appalling goal scoring record and would be as big a waste of space as Beattie - they are both talentless.
