The Mail Bag

Shall we take a break?

I realise there is next to no chance of this happening but could we not have a little break ( even just for a while) from the now surely exhausted indeed rapidly becoming boring comments about "the move"? None of them are going to have the slightest influence, we all have our own individual thoughts so each of us can only hope it goes our way.

We may not like it but the same thing applies to the "he's signing", "he's going" crap. No one knows, rumours are rumours, "just that", rumours. Have a little breather, chill out, recuperate and save your energy for just two weeks to encourage those players we actually have on the books, for the "Mad Scot" to choose from on 11th August. The truth is that's the ONLY choice we have.

To be honest Im getting totally sick of the news of the ground move also, its all we ever hear now...My opinion is simple..If it gets the go-ahead at least we will maybe be in a better position with a new stadium..If it doesnt then we stay at Goodison and thats the end of it..Personally I think we will still be at Goodison in ten years time because I know what E.F.C are like.. Anyway on to other things I was looking at some results the other day from the 97/98 season and I tell you something , alot of moaning goes on here about the squad and players but if you compare our team with the one of that season then say no more...Midfielders that season.. Farrelly- Williamson-Oster-Grant and sitting waiting on the bench were Tony Thomas- Jon O Connor and Claus Thomsen.. Up font we had a never fit Duncan Ferguson and then proceeded to sell Graham Stuart to Sheffield United in a kind of swap deal for wait for it....Mitch Ward and Carl Tiler. At least these days we can say ok small squad by todays standards but there is some quality in there that other clubs would love to have..Arteta..Cahill..AJ.. Lescott..Yobo..Jagielka..Pienaar ( voted in the Champions League team of the season 2003) we a top class goalkeeper..A Portugal international regular at left back who we are still waiting to come good although has shown signs of real class now and again..I would rather be watching us now than in 97/98, sometimes it makes me wonder how we survived, we had first division stamped all over us..Now we have ambitions at least and for E.F.C over the last ten years that says something..

Great Post Ray

We really should have gone down on a number of occasions.

I think we should be very pleased with our current situation, or we are not world beaters but look how far we have come in recent years.

I have total faith in DM, lets look 4ward to another great season and maybe a cup.

Well said. I was thinking exactly the same thing. No more move comments please.
