Do we have ZERO funds?

Considering the latest rumour of James Beattie going for £4M, do we have ZERO transfer funds at all?
The only activity so far that has actually cost us any fee has been Jagielka for circa £4 million ? the value of which could be attributed to the proceeds of the sale of Davies and Naysmith.
Could it be that the Beattie proceeds are needed to fund the Alan Smith bid - thus indicating we actually have a transfer budget that would make even Plymouth Argyle embarassed? When it's said that players are "over-valued", I'm starting to think this is spin for "out of our reach".

Zero funds or misappropriation of funds? Whatever it is we aint spending any of the cash windfall we recieved from last seasons efforts.Rumour has it that BK has had to put aside money to fund the Kirkby deal and thats why there is no cash available. If so whats the vote all about because
if he has already put money in then its a done deal.
When ever BK is involved in dealings you can guarantee that there will be skullduggery.

I know its paper talk but rumour has it our bid for Baines is £4m plus Carsley, if that is true we are even more skint than ever.

Has it crossed any of your minds that you actually have no idea how much money we have. Ok so we all know it’s not a lot but here’s a completely plausible scenario.
If we don’t sell Beattie we have enough to buy Smith OR Baines for £6m each. If we do we have enough to shell out for both.
Is that not more plausible than suggesting we have absolutely no money in the world ever ever ever

I agree with Tony on this one

I feel constantly disheartened by our inability to buy suitable players. In previous seasons this could often be forgiven as we often fall into the ’not an attractive option to the potential target’ category. But this year even when I hear Nugent, Richardson, Smith and Baines (among others) declare a genuine interest in coming to the club, we still struggle. This was the year to push on with the UEFA Cup wasn’t Moyes talking about us being ’the best option for any player wanting to move outside the top 4.’ Pretty difficult when we don’t have the funds to grant their obvious wishes.

Why don’t you all take a deep breath, relax and see what happens. All this worrying can’t be good for your health and we are going to need everyone fighting fit for the start of a very exciting season. Can’t you please just enjoy yourselves and look forward with some optimism instead of all this doom and gloom. I am glad that Moyes and the boys are all positive. Imagine if they all shared your enthusiasm fo life. Doen’t bear thinking about really does it?

Well said Barry. I think I know why our fan base is so small. They’re all so negative they slit their wrists. Any other group of fans would be looking forward to a european adventure, not us. Everton fans would rather complain than get excited. Come on, time to stop whinging and start singing. This is Everton, we’re loud, we’re proud and it’s time to show it.

Steve Pugh, By thinking that most Evertonians are whingers it seems that you yourself have fallen for TWs negative claptrappers.
You will find Steve, that some people are just natural born moaners. The hard core bunch of TW moaners are a tiny fraction of Everton supporters. Can anyone remember a single positive or even slightly optimistic input from one of them.
To counter accusations of their negativity they claim to be realists. All I can say is, that kind of realism would have finished our club off years ago.

Some of you should get over yourselves. To suggest that people are whingers or negative, simply because they dont have the same opinion as you, is downright arrogant, and quite frankly, does you a disservice. I will air my opinion. If you dont like it, you know what you can do, eh? Plenty of other sites out there. Or, better still - simply dont even comment on my post. Or are your lives so boring you have to comment on EVERY post, whether you like them or not?

Half the trouble is that a great number of people actually believe most of what’s written in the papers. Journos have column inches to fill. When there’s nothing to fill em with, they make it up, and it would appear that lots fall for it.
So Nugent wanted to come to Everton. Ever stopped to think that Moyes didn’t WANT him? Have you? Or the others.
And to put a positive spin on Tony Marsh’s point.
If BK hadn’t put money aside for the move, and the vote was a "yes" it’s just give you more ammo against him *LOL*..and just think Tony if the vote is "no" then all the dosh he’s put aside (as it’s a done deal) will be free...free I tell you....free to buy anybody !!!!

It’s all water under the bridge now as the financial revue shows what that lying toerag BK won’t; we haven’t got a pot to piss in and are running at a loss, this in the wealthiest league in the world.

If its true we are skint then I feel for Davie Moyes, I really do..Once again he is the only Premiership manager without a carrot to spend despite this summer being the BIG ONE money wise..The board have let down the manager once again, highlighted no better than the way we cannot match Wigan value of Baines, a player Moyes obviously knows Everton have needed for a long time..I mean the fact we cant match Sunderland is a sorry sorry state and for me Keith Wyness had a bare faced cheek that time he came out with a statement that Everton supporters have been watching football on the cheap for too long...You cheeky bastard! Why dont YOU lot at the board do something to find finances?. Support the manager or piss off now.

Looking at the piece Joe did on the finances it looks like we are up shit creek without a paddle.Adding more debt from our in-put into the stadium doesn’t make sense. We will have to have a huge new fan in-take,and sell all the corporate facilities just to keep afloat each year, never mind finding money for transfers.

Should really start a new thread with this but if we are so broke surely the gamble on more debt is another bad business decision from the current incompetants? Trying to run before they can walk, the clever thing to do would be a slow, admittedly boring, but cautious approach to break even first be it with a slow redevelopment of GP or dare I say it actually getting off their arses and looking for investment 24/7?

The simple fact is we can t or won t compete-no ifs or buts. We have to fight ourselves to land average players and always feel lucky if we do get them. I for one don t feel priviliged to land Jags and Pienaar I m sorry but I expect more from my club. I mean I do my bit and buy merchadise and tickets and am beginning to feel somewhat short-changed. In my humble opinion the Fernandes debacle sums our lack of ambition perfectly-we had a real talent for once and seem to have let him go because we will not pay the money we should have arranged with Benfica when we took him on board with a view to signing him. Apart from AJ when was the last time we brought in recognised quality of the standard we could get excited about ? I ll tell you ....Kancelskis ! I love EFC and will support them to I meet my maker but have to admit we are a small club with limited ambition.

No way Carsley is going to Wigan. He signs a new deal with us as a free agent and then we trade him to the same club he could have joined for probably more money?
I do hope Baines is true though!

Isn't £4M a bit stiff for us to have to pay Sheff Utd to take Beattie off our hands. Someone suggested that they were paying us, but I can't believe it. Even Bryan Robson can't get that befuddled, can he?

Its all down to the fact that Everton need some financial backing from somewhere, I dont give a monkeys toss where from but we need it to compete..Its a sad degrading situation when we can no longer compete with clubs such as Sunderland Portsmouth and Wigan..I mean take Fenandes for example..Has anyone at Everton even tried to do a deal for Fernandes?. Either on another loan or what?. We should have been able to really push the boat out for Manny because I can be certain that in three or four years he will be at one of the cream European clubs ( pray not in the Premiership) and his fee will be near 20 million.. It is sad when all we can really afford to do is get players on loan and nothing against Jags but he is only really an average player, look at the other clubs in for him..Bolton and Wigan..There was no real big thinkers in the bidding to get him..He will probably do well simply because he can play anywhere defensively but he’s not going make a blind bit of difference to the games which we maybe should have won last season.. Then we have Pienaar..This looks relatively exciting but simple question..If he does do well can we bloody afford him?. Will his price suddenly go up?. I cant believe sometimes the way Everton have got themselves in the transfer market..This was the summer when it wouldnt really have been out the question to sign six or seven new players to have a bash at the domestic cups and Europe aswell as stay afloat in the league..The league could easily go pearshped if we are not careful, although we cant control injuries we should have reinforced with six or seven players..i will be looking forward to the Wigan game but Im also half expecting things to get difficult after September..I hope Im wrong

I see Mr Libel (aka Tony Marsh) is spouting his defamatory comments again. He should be pleased that no-one outside of this website listens to him, because I’m sure Mr Kenwright’s lawyers would have a field day with him. Then he WOULD have something to moan about...
