Who will own the carparks?

Does anybody know who will own the carparks surrounding a Kirkby stadium? Potentially this will be a rather large source of revenue. There does not seem to be any information on this. Will this land be owned by the council/Tesco or Everton? £10 a car might well be easier to swallow depending on who it goes to. Also in the loop option is the any provision made for parking?

The short answer is I don’t know but I feel pretty certain it wont be Everton Football Club. Bill Kenwright and the board seem pretty happy with reducing the number of assets the club owns.

It depends on how they work the car parks, nobody pays for a car park to go shopping (I dont think) so I would assume that if there was a seperate car park for the stadium and you had to pay(which would be hard to implement seen as tho you could just park at the supermarket for free) then I would think all partys would get a slice!
However, the place aint even built yet and may never be so try not to lose sleep over it! :)

Free parking for visitors of Tesco who spent at least 20 quid or so, I reckon.

I could imagine if there was to be a large car park for the fans,it would probalby be built by the council(paid for by Tesco) and the council would take the proceeds.

Most retail car parks are free to park in, I wouldn’t expect to pay to park in a supermarket carpark unless it was in a really poncey area.

The Halliwell-Jones Stadium in Warrington shares a car park with Tesco. On match days a dividing barrier is put up to mark the Rugby parking as distinct fromb the Tesco parking. Although I think it’s only for permit holders.

Thing is Gavin,I live in Wokingham now, down the road from the Madjeski stadium. And I know If you park your car on the retail park on a matchday, they have a load of attendant going round clocking the cars, and how long they have been there. The limit you are allowed to park is 2hrs(long enough to see the game and get back to your car I suppose)but if you go over the 2hrs they stick a ticket on your windscreen saying you are being charged.I remember someone telling me they had done it and got hit with a £40 parking fee.

I think they will charge for example Wyness says he can raise £10 million pounds from new stadium. Look at this. Say 10,000 cars at £10 a go. I admit this is probably bit OTT in number but they are bound to charge more for coaches etc and I don’t know how many away suppporters they intend to attract. Lets say just the 19 league games and 1 home cup game a year(lets hope many more).
Equals 2 million pounds!!!!
Hope its not going to Tesco.

Brian I do a lot of work around the area, Wokingham is much nicer than Reading by the way but full of Arsenal fans as some nice chap told me when I was parking my car a few weeks ago when he saw the Everton scarf in my car, it’s a bit of a cheek to pay to park at the Madejksi but the other retail car parks nearby are a bit bleak.

There are going to be 4500 spaces for Tesco parking and 1000 spaces for the stadium, according to The Echo article with Wyness.
1000 spaces = 4000 fans max.
Where will everyone else park?
I have sent that question to Everton, the Daily Post and The Echo, and haven’t had any response yet.
