The Mail Bag

Rumours at BBC

You've probably all read it but apparently:

1) Beattie to Sheff Utd is in trouble due to Beat's salary (£40K). That's £4M less in the kitty.
2) Newcastle are interested in Alan Smith for £6M.
3) Man City might offer £7M for Smith!

All rumours these but.... makes you think about Nugent going to Portsmouth, Vaughan getting injured. Me thinks the Preston lad panicked and decided two weeks too early to settle his future. And we will end up being priced out and with no-one.

Anyone heard where Riquelme is starting the new season... ooer, did I mention an unmentionable?

I saw the Alan Smith rumours and it worried me. Not because Alan Smith is our last chance or a "must buy" but because anyone we get linked with is bought by someone else.

...I can’t see Beattie going to Sheffield United - can you?

I wouldn’t if I were him !

Although I wish I was earning £40K without doing nowt.

Riquelme would be the coup of the summer he is on loan at boca juniors i think. I could live without Smith.

I personally think Alan Smith IS our last chance at signing a striker, I cant really see Everton going after anyone else and there isnt that much time left, the weeks go quick..I personally think we will lose out on Smith to those bloody Goerdies and I think Baines will go elsewhere too..Forget Riquelme..I would love him here he would be a great coup but he isnt a Moyes type of player..

How many times do we show the first interest in a player only to lose out to bloody Newcastle?.. It happened with parker and Emre..Michael Owen..Barton..What is it with them?.. And now its Smith..
