Beattie leaving

Comments (5)

Is anyone else a bit concerned that we have accepted a bid for Beattie? Yes he has been awful for the majority of his blues career, (with the beginning of 2006 the exception) but our squad is already paper thin. If he goes we will start the season with Anichebe, Johnson and Mcfadden up front as our only fit strikers who have any sort of premiership experience.

If we are going to sell him surely we should get a striker to replace him first rather than take a chance that we 'might' get Smith. Maybe 'Ben the red' is right and the signing of Smith is nearly done and will be revealed just before the ballot. I can picture KW now - 'We know your not keen on the stadium move so we've signed Alan Smith to cheer you up, there is no plan B, but dont worry... ALAN SMITH!!!!' What am I worrying myself about?

maybe moyesy is hoping Scott Spencer and that other lad (cant be arsed looking up his name as its too hard to spell) can make an impact like Vaughan and Anichebe did in their first season, whilst they go through the difficult second season?

The thing about Beattie is that he has been earning 40 grand a week to do nothing except eat and do interviews for the last 2 years. The 4 million transfer fee plus 2 million in wages would go some way to helping our cheapskate club finance a deal for Baines and or that Swiss bloke. The problem is that someone as egotistical as Beattie is never going to accept dropping down a division and taking a 50% wage cut in the process. We are stuck with the bugger.

Ever considered that for away games at least, Cahill will be used a a second striker in a 4-5-1 system. So for half the games until Vaughan is fit we could use only one of the other three mentioned with the possibility of the odd game for one of the two youngsters. Not a perfect situation but this is Everton.

Lads stop kidding yourselves, Anichebe, Johnson and Mcfadden will not be enough for both euro and EPL. They would bearly be enough for the EPL.

We need a top striker, fact, so we need to make a move for one asap.

Hope moyes knows what he is doing.
