Vote wrangling?

Comments (11)

Has the news that Kirkby residents have voted in favour of a new ground really received more Thumbs Up than any other news story on the official site, or have we already witnessed the practise run for the vote rigging later in the season?

Incidentally, I work for a major travel operator in London. Perhaps EFC's lack of money has something to do with them chartering luxury private jets at breathtaking fees everytime one of their Board or senior management take a trip abroad!!! Just a thought worth considering.....

I think it has more to do with actual visitors in favour of the move who feel it is necessary to make their statement. It is the only controversial subject on the official site, and I reckon that if there was the option of thumbs down, it would top that list as well. Don’t read too much in it other than that it is a subject that keeps us Evertonians busy.

The second statement, if true (not that I don’t trust you) and when those jets are used for private use, is downright appalling.

At the enclosed (shorter link) to Knowsley Online you?ll find the attached newsline posted yesterday. I?m waiting for the OS and the Liverpool Echo to pick up on it. Because I know how gutted they?d be that they?d mistakenly skewed George Howarth?s poll wrongly. And they?d be wanting to make amends at the first opportunity. Wouldn?t they?

Kirkby residents oppose Everton stadium
Kirkby residents gathered last week to voice their objections to the planned Everton FC stadium in the town.
While Knowsley MP George Howarth announced poll results showing support for the project, about 500 locals met at St Chad’s Church to oppose the plans.
Commenting on this website, organiser Rev. Tim Stratford wrote that the poll, which found 51% support the stadium, "must be treated with some scepticism".
The poll "was not a survey of Kirkby residents but of people "in and around the town"," he said. "The methodology used means this includes business owners, employees, visitors and people resident in neighbouring communities."
Rev. Stratford also pointed to inconsistencies in the results, which he says suggest that "the interviewer must have led the respondents to some extent."
The proposed regeneration scheme for Kirkby also includes plans for a Tesco supermarket.

All this stadium talk is to draw the attention away from the lack of transfers. Like the kings dock, i wouldn’t be suprised if the kirkby projects collapses. It’s all propaganda. All the stadium talk will stop after Aug 31st.

We as supporters are proletarians we use public transport. The board members are the bourgeoisie. They do not.

Peoples club, My arse.

But the again, it?s only a ideal.

Yet another uncorroborated story for the mugs to salivate over.

I work for a large American oil company. The board and senior management travel in luxury too.
It goes with the job, territory, whatever.
If the club’s board travelled by bus there’d be those who’d slag em rotten for embarrassing the club.
Lets face it, they just can’t win.

Got to agree with Brian Williams on this one, everywhere I have worked Senior Management has had it’s perks, it’s just similar to saying the players should drive around in Skodas, nothing wrong with the motor it starts and stops and not bad since VW took them over but unlikely to happen. Cost cutting would have to start at the top down and would come with major complaints all the way down.

On more than one occasion, I’ve seen The Liar pull up at Goodison in an old clapped out Nissan Micra. It seems his lack of cash impacts on his homelife too!

Five years ago,Tesco put forward an exciting scheme to provide a new school and wide regeneration of a ’fading’ district in my home town of Worcester.Apart from some small local shop owners, the scheme met with widespread approval but has foundered on a myriad of obscure planning objections, not least from ’The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
I have a gut feeling that the ’Kirby Project’will suffer the same fate but it will keep the flak off Kenwright and Co for a year or two!

It doesn’t just have to be supporters of the move that have given it a thumbs up, it could just be people who were genuinely interesting in the article and thought it was newsworthy.
