I think I'm missing something here. After his early summer 'coup' of securing Arteta and Cahill on extended contracts we were all quick to hear how matters had been progressed quietly and without fuss in 'the Everton way'. So why is it that everything else this summer (especially transfers) has been handled in a manner that i'd personally describe as crass, unprofessional, ill considered and frankly embarrassing for a club of our (historic) stature?
Or are we all living in the past and the present is the grim reality for EFC? And if its the latter then just how bad is that reality please? I mean, is this why our lads battled for European qualification last year - and no doubt the 'fresh faces' they were also promised?
I don't blame Moyes as he is only able to deal with the funds he has made available. But for vital player additions to be missed out on for the sake of a few million is a bloody disgrace and someone needs to stand up and be counted here.
There is a boat sailing next season and our amateurish behaviour is in danger of leaving us waving them all off. Nobody is expecting us to compete with some of the obscene sums of new money being introduced into the game but compete on the pitch we must. And that means paying the going rate every now and again. Did we learn nothing from the summer of 2005?
Hopefully the stadium debate will shatter some illusions regarding our financial health and put the spotlight firmly on how the club is being run - regardless of where we end up moving. I've got everything crossed for the season ahead but should that really still be necessary?
Come on Bill, open up a bit and see what happens. You never know, it could become the new 'Everton way'...

You might as well open the door to offers for Arteta , Cahill , Johnson , Lescott and to be frank if I was them and realised that they have 3-4 years of tight budgetary control (until the magical new era of 50000 crowds at the newly named ground of "Planet Hollywood Kirkby Stadium") and no chance of competing at the top end of the league then I would also leave as promises are not being kept.
It doesnt surprise me that Earl has been brought on to board as there is clearly need to find substantial investment to maintain a league challenge as well as a stdium to be funded.
