The first real test

Comments (23)

Like many of you I have been constantly on the internet hoping and praying for some decent transfer activity. So far not much to sing about (although I am happy with Jagielka).

As you are all aware we have had many rumours linking us with the likes of Nugent and Richardson but have seen them go off to other clubs. Suddenly though everything has changed, because we never actually made any reported/confirmed bids for these players you have to conclude that Moyes actually did not want them and it was just paper talk.

Baines however is a different matter, by having a bid rejected it is clear that Moyes wants him so this for me is the real test. Are we going to sit around and hope he rejects other (rumoured) clubs so we get him on the cheap at our valuation? Is KW going to prove that the stadium money and transfer money are indeed two cmopletely different budgets? Are we really that skint that we cannot find an additional £1.5m?

I am hoping that we take care of business while all other (rumoured) clubs are distracted -Man Utd with Tevez and Heinze, Liverpool with Heinze and City busy buying Bulgarians. I am afraid that we are about to witness another 'Sissoko' and our pissing about will see Baines join another club. Surely if we want him and we offered £6m the deal could be done by teatime?

I've just about had enough of this preseason, I just want the season to start and deadline to close so I can get back to work and stop obsesively checkin the damn internet for a new signing.

Couldn’t agree more with you Andy. Whilst everything else has been rumour, speculation and paper talk, Baines is the first player so far of (premiership class)that we have bid for (Jagielka apart) - let’s hope the ’Everton way’ will have this matter concluded before as you say, we have another ’Sissoko’ on our hands.

As for Smith, he falls into the latter area until we hear that a formal bid has been placed.

Manure say that had a number of calls and a text about him, what’s the best we were the ones who texted...

With you every word of that Andy. Our waiting to shift deadweight before making any serious offers is killing us and strengthening those around us.

You know you people are unbelievable...

We all agree that we have no cash to make realistic bids and pay competitive wages. The reason we aren’t signing our targets is due to our absolute joke of a chairman.

You people come on this site and whinge and whinge and whinge. It makes me fuckin sick. What are you, the fans, doing about it?
Do you think Billy boy reads these postings and will eventually decide ’oh i think its time to get the finger out’. Are you that out of touch with the world. GET REAL !!

I have tried to get people to get together to force this dictatorship out of our club but when it comes down to it, you dont really give a fuck do. Dont go to the Wigan game! picket outside and lets get our club back to where it belongs.

And before you knobs say ’oh, he must be red scum’. I have supported this club all of my life.

At least the red shite wouldnt put up with it if their club was being run this way.
But no not Everton, our fans are quite happy to bend over and take it up the ASS !!

i was actually asking questions i advise you to read it again and note all the question marks!it was only my final sentance that was frustrated.

anyway there should be about 20 of you then outside the match with banners? if this is how its broadcast to our fans it wont be a massive turnout will it? see another question.

Ive got my ticket for the wigan game and shall be sat in the lower Gwladys as always, dont blame the players for BKs fuck ups get behind them and support them with all your heart.
And just to echo what you responded to me...do you really think billy boy will give a rats fuck about a small group of fans outisde the stadium when hes inside watchin us? are you that out of touch?

Jake does have a very valid point... however, the question from then on is "what is JAKE gonna do about it?".

Jake,
How is a club that gives the fans a VOTE as to whether we move into a new stadium or not a dictatorship. Honestly, get a dictionary and read the definition of a dictator, actually I’ll give you a couple.
1) An absolute ruler, especially one who is harsh and oppressive.
2) One who imposes or favors absolute obedience to authority.

Great original post Andy , followed by an even better response to Jake ! Totally agree with your last paragraph about not being able to wait until season is up and running and the deadline passing so we can all get on with our lives again , myself i would put this pre-season’s lack of spending down to the stadium ballot looming . BK has kept any transfer money for the new ground just incase we vote for it ! David Moyes said at the end of last season that he would be conducting any transfers towards the end of the window and KW reiterated this in the last couple of weeks so there is still hope (i think). I too will be in the lower Gwladys for the Wigan game as i will be for every home game , i certainly wont be outside trying to oust a chairman who i strongly believe is doing his very best to take the football club he loves to the next level ...he just hasn’t got the money to do it ! . I’d still rather have Bill than egg head at west ham or the chinese guy at man city !

Hmmm, moan moan moan. Than someone makes a suggestion and says why don’t we do something about it instead of just moaning. Surely there are more than 20 people dissatisfied with BK. Look at the work of the organisers of KEOIC. Would there be a ballot if it wasn’t for this group? I severely doubt it. They were opposed to something and done something about it. I too hope that Wyness and BK are doing the best for the club but there serious questions to be answered, mainly, where the fuck is the money gone and how can clubs that 5 years ago were in the 3rd tier of English football out muscle us financially.

Even if the aforementioned have EFC at heart, perhaps they just don’t have the ability to get us where we should be. If we fall behind to a mid-table team again because of our lack of spending, I think Jake is dead right. BK and Wyness out and it is only the Everton Fans that can do this.

Finally, I can’t see why the stadium issue is not viewed independantly of the transfer fund. It is a seperate project than cannot be aloud to but an absolute halt on our progress on the pitch.

Simon if you really mean the comments about Kenwright Where have you been for the last couple of years,The guy can not stop lying to us I don’t blame him for not having any money to put in to the club but would like to know what has happened to the money received from out going transfers and tv cash.Let me guess the road to Kirkby is paved with gold please mate have a reality check hes made us the joke of the prem .

Moyes offered fair value for the player. If Heinze, Argentina’s starting left back is worth 6 Million how can anyone say that Baines, a man who cannot get onto Englands bench nevermind start, is also worth 6 Million. 4 Million was a fair offer, they rejected it, so what. Our team is fine, there is still another month for Moyes to find a couple of players that he sees as worthy, the fans will decide whether our new stadium will be in Kirkby so there is no point in constantly bitching about it, and Everton will progress.

braaten heading to bolton for about £425 000 see sky sports. looks like we cant even compete in the bargain basement with the likes of the trotters!!!!!!!! for a decent young strong winger who would add to our squad. WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH OUR CLUB!!!!!!!!!!! ABSOLUTE JOKE

When is evrybody gonna realise that Bullshit Billy is just a cheat. He gets his best friend (at the time) Paul gregg to put up 7m then miraculously buys Johnson out for 20m.Considering he only has a spare 1m to his name where do you think the money came from - out of EFC.
Then there’s NTL, Fortress Sports fund, the KIngs Dock fiasco(at which point Gregg was beginning to see through BK and would not put up the 30m required without security).
He is an absolute con man whose sole purpose is to hang on to his chairmanship at the expense of the club and supporters.
For all you pro Bkites where has he been for the last 2 months while we are at this critical point for the club.Is that what you call leadership even if he has no money!!!
Why dont we organise our own petition and for all those allowed to vote for/against Kirby send an accompanying vote of no confidence in the board.
For those not allowed to vote go to www.kenwright.com and send him an email.NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM - dont let it become a joke!!!

Now that Man Utd are interested I doubt very much that Baines is going to wait for us to up our offer.

Hey Wes,

What the hell does Braaten going to Bolton have to do with us? When did anyone with the club say they were trying to sign him? Try to use some logic here, we just offered 4 Million for Baines, but don’t have 450,000 for a transfer? Maybe we just didn’t want him, try that one. Just because a website says we have watched him in the past that does not mean we are trying to sign him. I guess Chelsea and United can’t compete with Bolton either since they couldn’t come up with the 450,000 that Bolton paid for some Norwegian guy who has spent his entire career in a subpar league.

David,

I think it was his agent that said that Everton scouts were enquiring about Braaten close season. Maybe that’s where Wes got it from.
David Barks
19   Posted 31/07/2007 at 19:34:30

Steve,

Here is the quote from the agent:
"What I can say is that there is serious interest from England," Lillejord told VG. "There are at least two French clubs who are also interested."
Bolton Wanderers have been previously linked with a bid for Braaten, along with Aston Villa, Everton and Fulham.

He never mentioned Everton, skysports just said that we along with 3 others had been previously linked with him, who knows when that was. Maybe we have watched him the past couple years and decided he wouldn’t cut it.

To Roy Coyne

I too would like to know what has happened to all the money , but as i said my guess is BK is holding it back for the ground move , he is going to have to take some money to the table along with Knowsley and Tescos , he’d look stupid if the fans vote for the move then have to turn around and say sorry got no money anymore spent it all on players !!...I certainly do not need to take a reality check Roy , BK and Moyes have brought me some very happy moments over the last couple of years and i dont see that changing just because other sides are paying rediculous transfer fees doesn’t mean we have to !!
Steve Claringbold
21   Posted 31/07/2007 at 19:57:02

Fairplay David, I must’ve misread it.

I imagine that for £425,000 that Bolton have either got a cracking buy or a white elephant.

Baines is in the crowd tonight signing autographs!!

Watching it live on EvertonFC.

He is sat next to Vaughan and a few other players.

Has to be a done deal.

2-2 and not a bad workout for the squad but it certainly highlighted the gaps in the team.

The main one being our need for a new left back. Hopefully Baines who was at Goodison tonight to watch the blues will fill this gap. But I am not holding my breath. It would be a shame to have to use Lescott on the left again, as he and Yobo look to be a great partnership.
