Cahill and out!

It would appear that Timmy's injury could be worse than originally feared meaning the need for reinforcements is now crucial. I mean Cahill and James Vaughan are integral cogs in our small wagon. Should the injury prone AJ get niggles we are done for! Fernandes, Baines and a target man are even more of a priorty now.

Well we have been warning moyes for months now about strength in depth and even some on here have been banging on about how our squad is strong enough.
The fact is that we need at least 3 new faces.

Baines, Smith, Fernandes on another loan. I’d settle for that

That’s two ’strikers’ down but we still have four left including Beattie or his replacement so I would say that is pretty good squad cover really.

Fernandes is gone. We lost out on a player who would have knocked us up an extra level. But we must move on and replace him. Hopefully Pienaar can do this but I dont see this happening because they are both different players. I think we should concentrate on getting a centre midfielder and a fullback. If I see Carsley and Neville in the same midfield against Wigan I will cry. Maybe Fernandes will come back next season when we have a bit more money or even in January who knows.

I do so wish people would stop harping on about Fernandes. The truth is that in the light of the Tevez situation his ’duel ownership’made even an extended loan an impossibility. The injury to Cahill will see him miss the first two months of the season and will now hasten the urgency to bring in Alan Smith before the planned ’deadline day’ deal.Things are so tight at Goodison that even the saving of three week’s wages(a mere £100K!)have to be costed in!

Moyes should have put his foot down with the aussies and kept Cahill here doing light stuff and then he would have been ready for us (his wage payers) instead of playing in some mickey mouse Asia thing!

Everton were scared to sign Fenandes because he had too much bloody flair and if we had both him and Arteta in the team we may have actually had an emphasis on attacking teams rather than setting our old 4-5-1 strategy out...Its a tired and laboured formation and for me there is no way we can fit Phil Neville, Jagielka and Carsley on the pitch at the same time next season..Fernandes would have been a complete ace in the pack..He had all the attributes to be as good as Steven Gerrard in my opinion, pace, power, all the skill in the world and a power packed shot from long distance which is something else we were not really used to at Goodison..People forget he is only 20 years old but already he has been capped and scored for Portugal..I for one think we will miss Fernandes contibution a hell of a lot more than we realise..After he signed in January we never had such a problem scoring goals with him and Arteta in midfield..3-0 against Watford and Portsmouth.. We actually went 2-0 up againt Man Utd and we were ripping them apart at one stage until the less cultured part of our team took over and spoilt it..We will miss Fernandes, he was a real joy to watch and we can only think what might have been..

Should we not have heard some news on Cahill’s injury results by now? Wednesday evening they said. No news is bad news I reckon.

I totallu agree Ray it looks like we have wasted the chance of signing a real gem again. In my humble opinion he has the makings of being a world beater and probably could even surpass Shrek. Same old crap though have to put up with the Nevilles and Jagielkas !!

Blue Shaun...a bit harsh on Neville and Jagielka me thinks. I have to agree with Zac.There was never going to be a deal for Fernandes, once the similarity to the Tevez deal came to light. Do you honestly believe Everton were "scared" to sign him and have too much talent in midfield??

Cahill’s out for 3 months. That’s 2 out now and the season hasn’t even started yet. This doesn’t leave much room for optimism, with 2 of our main goal threat injured and no sign of re-inforcements. we really are fucked. The squad will be even more stretched.
According to reports Man City and Newcastle have now entered the race for Baines. Apprently Man City have offered 6mill and Vassell.

Calm down lads, Cahill is a loss no doubt, but we did quite well last season without his services. Manny was a class act and will definitely be missed but all is definitely not lost. Ossie looks like he’s picked up his game a lot as has Jimmy Mac. So for every step back we do have some forward motion happening aswell. If we do sign Baines and Smith We will be a far better prospect than last year, with or without Timmy.

I think the underlying issue about Manny is that we were told by Moysie that we only take people on loan with a view to signing them so with that in mind I d say that a potential deal should have been in place should Mannys loan be successful which it was of course. So we should have known what he was going to cost not left it until he did well and bumped up the price so we couldn t afford him ! Call me a doubter if you like but I think Moysie knew the fans were liking Manny and that we couldnt afford him so started nit picking at interviews about his workrate and that he wasn t the finished article so as to dampen our hopes somewhat. I suppose it is a possibility that he was doing it as a motivational method for Manny but I doubt it to be honest.
