Cahill Injury

Cahill?s latest injury is a nightmare; I am devastated for him but the whole thing stinks of unprofessionalism from the club and the player. Either Cahill was lying to Baz about the progress of the injury or Baz messed up and if I was Moyes I?d be furious about the whole thing. With the small squad we have it was vital Cahill was rehabilitated with the up most care and am failing to see any excuse Everton or Cahill can come up with as to why this latest injury has happened. Being unlucky does'nt come into it, the bone injury was either fully recovered or he was rushed back in order to play for his country.

Bone injures compared to muscle related injures are straight forward, there are less unknowns and treatment revolves around rest with a slow rehabilitation. The upside to bone breaks is that the bone after recovery is stronger then before the break and the recovery progress of the bone can also be measured by x-ray which gives a very clear picture of how far along the recovery is. From my understanding Baz took x-rays and gave Cahill the all clear to up his rehabilitation and take part in the Asia cup. In my mind if there was any possibility that the bone was not fully recovered he should not have touched a ball in that tournament and the way in which Cahill injured the foot on Tuesday (under no contact) paints a picture of a very weak bone and some very poor medical decisions.

Either Baz never spotted it, he did but the risk was low enough to allow him to play for his country or Cahill was not forthcoming with how the foot really felt for Baz to make a medical judgment on him not to play. Cahill has to prioritize Everton over country commitments and if the latter reasoning is true, he only has himself to blame for the injury and he has let us and himself down. Either way it?s a huge blow for the club given are circumstances, I just get the feeling the whole thing could have been avoided and lessons need to be learned.

Its all rather unfortunate isn’t it? I dont think you can blame anyone as such, nobody wanted him to get injured and I do think that they have more experience in these matters than we do. Unless you’re a sports physio with years of trainging & experience.

Are you?

Blimey! Folk are tripping over themselves to post negative news about Cahill’s injury and coming up with some bewt conspiracy theories.

Maybe we should all visit the club site and check on this link before spouting off much more about this, eh...?

http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/cahill-reports-premature.html

But then of course... only lies and deception emanates from the corridors of GP, don’t they...?

Andrew - didnt the original injury happen ’due to his own weight’?

Perhaps he just had/has a weakness in that part of his foot. In a long & (in)glorious career on local parks I busted my right knee up 3 times.

Why is the Echo adamant that he’s broken his foot and EFC are saying this is "wide of the mark"? Who are we to believe? No wonder confusions reigns supreme at this club. If we don’t know what’s happening with an inury FFS, how we are expected to believe anything else?!

What do you mean "confusion reigns supreme at this club"? From day one all official reports are consistent in his injury not being that serious.

As to why the Echo writes the exact opposite, I’d rather ask them not the club.

It may still turn out that the Echo had been right. I hope they aren’t.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m prepared not to believe anything the board says, propaganda is everywhere after all.

But when Alan Irvine says that "Tim is walking about on it and is not in a great deal of pain or anything", I do believe him.

I simply don’t see the point in him lying about Timmy.
