Proven Striker for £2m!!!

Comments (1)

There is a release clause in Benni McCarthy's contract with Blackburn that he can go if an offer of £5m is received.

If we were to invoke this clause, Mark Hughes would then probably look to re-sign Beattie for Rovers, and after all wrangling is done, we could probably end up with Benni for £2 million or less.

McCarthy was also at Goodison on Tuesday night with his good friend Steven Pienaar, who had returned from Germany just too late to be included for the match.

Surely this would be good business for the club if Bill asked Pienaar to have a quiet word with Benni, who stated before he signed for Blackburn that he wanted to come to Everton.

We could then push the boat out for Baines plus Vogel and consider it a fantastic (though frustrating) transfer window.

McCarthy has just signed a new deal - so if this clause was there, I suggest it was under the old contract...
