Questions? Questions?

Before the yes brigade cast their votes, let them think about a few things first:

  1. How will they get to Kirkby on match days?
  2. What price will their new seat be?
  3. How many supporters will we lose if the team is not successful?
  4. What has Keith Wyness ever done for EFC?
  5. How many of the current players who are supporting the move will still be with us in five years time (players and managers come and go; fans are forever)?
  6. Do you really want to hand the city over to Gerrard, Carragher and Co?
  7. Why did Tesco want to tie us in to an exclusivity deal and why was Kenwright foolish enough to agree?
  8. Do you really believe EFC will cease to exist if the vote is No?
  9. Which football club was in the city first?
  10. Would you like to see millions spent on new players or a new ground?

This deal is not all it seems. Don?t throw away over a hundred years of history in a second by voting Yes.

Everton will survive without Kirkby. Give Liverpool City Council one last chance to get it right. WE CAN WAIT.

VOTE NO TO KIRKBY

Following its campaign of fear, abuse, disinformation and character assassination the day has at last dawned when KEIOC will lay all its cards on the table.
At St. Georges Hall I expect it to publicly announce the name/s of those who with cold hard cash will support its plans. Time is past for any more ifs or buts or talk about mysterious benefactors waiting for the bottom to fall out of the Tesco deal.
Give us names, construction starting dates, Stadium plans, parking facilities, access routes etc.
Anything less and one would begin to think it is all a pipe dream that distracts from the Kirkby option.

"Following its campaign of fear, abuse, disinformation and character assassination the day has at last dawned..."

Up to that point I thought you were talking about the club, but no, it’s KEIOC!

Are you serious? The members of KEIOC (and I’m not one by the way) have spent their own money and their own time to provide YOU with more information than the VERY well paid employees of EFC have done.

But that’s not enough is it? You need them to have funding in place and the cement trucks ready to roll before you’ll accept that their hard labour and dedication (in the cause of Everton Football Club don’t forget) is anything more than "a pipe dream".

Take away the (in my opinion) fairly dogmatic objection to moving to Kirkby and what are KEIOC really asking of the board/club? As I see it, they want the club to give serious consideration to options other than Kirkby. To admit (as has been demonstrated twice in the past and agiain here) that Goodison can be redeveloped to a state of the art 50-60 thousand capacity ground. To enter into dialogue with LCC and Bestway over the Loop and other sites recently identified.

At the very least, they want more detail on the Kirkby plans - what will it cost Everton? Where are the outline architectural plans? What’s the breakdown of this supposed 10m GBP increase in turnover? Why is there no plan B?

Seriously, compare the detailed plans KEIOC have put on their website (link above) with the 5 page PR guff the club have released. The former has been put together by part-time volunteers in one month. The latter is the end-result of an 8 month ’exclusivity agreement’ between EFC, Tesco and KBC. Do you think it’s really impossible that in a similar time period a financial package the equal or better of the Kirkby deal could be put together for Goodison or the Loop site?

Well said James

It suits the purposes of some to caricature those who have serious concerns about the Kirkby project as habitual moaners with a fear of progress.

Nothing can be further from the truth. Experience of 5 years of mismanagement of Everton Football club from those who hold the power in the boardroom and the constant neverending stream of misinformation, evasion, sophistry and downright lies regarding the Kirkby move coming from our leaders makes me open to listen to alternative sources of information.

I simply do not believe that the Kirkby move will prove for the long term good of Everton Football club or its supporters.

Yet, I’m open to be convinced if someone can provide a spin free argument that suggests otherwise

Let me just answer those questions:

1. How will they get to Kirkby on match days?
The same way the greatest supporters in the world manage to get to every single ground Everton plays in week in and week out. Are you saying a four mile move will stop us?

2. What price will their new seat be?

What price will their new seat be in absolutely any new development (including a redeveloped Goodison).

3. How many supporters will we lose if the team is not successful? What has that got to do with a new stadium? The same question could be asked wherever we are including Goodison. The answer is we will keep the real supporters.

4. What has Keith Wyness ever done for EFC?
This is beginning to sound like a Monty Python sketch now "what have the Romans ever done for us?" Well the easy answer is that after years of struggling to find any investment he has brought along a great opportunity for us to move on.

5. How many of the current players who are supporting the move will still be with us in five years time (players and managers come and go; fans are forever)?

Again, how many will be with us wherever we are, players and mangers come and go, they stop playing for us when they are sold or are too old no matter where we are.

6. Do you really want to hand the city over to Gerrard, Carragher and Co?

LOL. "hand the city over" When we moved to Goodison it wasn’t even in the city of Liverpool, we didn’t hand the city over then and we aren’t now. The RS supporters live in Cornwall and Norway.

7. Why did Tesco want to tie us in to an exclusivity deal and why was Kenwright foolish enough to agree?

This has been answered many times before but I’ll repeat it again for the hard of hearing, this is a normal business practice because it costs Knowseley half a million to perform the necessary studies, would you commit to spending that much if the company you were dealing with were not prepared to act in good faith?

8. Do you really believe EFC will cease to exist if the vote is No?

NO. But we will not be in the Premier League and the ground will be closed on safety issues. Then where will we play?

9. Which football club was in the city first?

And over a hundred years ago which club moved out of the city into Goodison Park?

10. Would you like to see millions spent on new players or a new ground?

Both please, thanks for asking.

Barry it may choke you but the redevelopment of Kirkby Town centre doesn’t rely on the football ground, it is happening with or without it, Tesco stand to get planning permission with less trauma and get a Liverpool site thrown into the mix for good measure to enable them to build a superstore for part of Project Jennifer, as said time and time again but yes Barry some people do fail to listen, if Tesco were so interested in Everton where is the corporate sponsorship, shirt sponsorship, where is the agreement for naming rights to the Kirkby stadium? Strange but true they don’t give a tinkers toss beyond the expansion of the empire that is Tesco.

JUST SAY NO!! I hear ya Eddy..
Gavin Ramejkis... youve probably just tempted fate.. I see the the boys marching out proudly with Tescos across their chest, at the ’Sensible shopping Stadium’... no longer to the theme of ’Z Cars’ their latest ad jingle. The old Gwladys St boys singin.. ’And ya know... it makes sense.. to do your shopping at Tesco not Asda instead’

So let’s sum up the arguments here for a no vote :

1. I don’t trust Wyness

Questioning what we are told is one thing, but are we really going to reject any proposal that comes from the club because we don’t trust them ? We need to look at the merits of the proposal.

2. I don’t trust Tesco

Well who’s asking you to ? They’re like any other sponsor, they’ll make decisions based on their own interest rather than that of the club. The money’s still real.

3. We’d be giving up the city

It’d be easy to say it’s only a few miles, we can still keep our support - all of which is true. But there is more at stake. It’s a huge deal for a club like Everton to uproot itself in this way, and the strong feelings and beliefs of its loyal fans should be respected. So while I hope that fans will look objectively at what the deal could mean for the club, I couldn’t blame anyone for voting with their heart.
