Converted

I recently wrote a letter saying 'don't panic!' on the transfer front. Funny how things change haha

Over the past few days I've seen clubs move in stealth, buy players and improve squads. Albeit clubs with more money but money doesn't buy process. The Vogel 'deal' is on a par with Parker,Forrsell and marginly better than Muller. If he's really only costing £1m then what does that say about our financial restraints? Apparently he's worth it for nothing but not good enough to be worth next to nothing. Hmmmm.

Baines in the directors box on Tuesday SURELY should've triggered a move Weds/Thurs but.......no. Not yet at any rate.

Beattie out potentialy, Vaughan injured, Cahill injured yet no sign of any attacking threat being bought in. Even I had a wry smile at the defender we're 'linked' with because he was converted from striker to defence. So thats two positions covered.

Smith looks set for the barcodes and although he divides opinion on his effectiveness I am a big fan, seemingly so is/was Moyes. Of all the players you could expect to move this summer there doesn't seem to be much choice left. Has Jeffers gone anywhere yet?

Its not all 'end of the world is nigh' and I still believe in a prudent transfer policy paying off but theres a difference between being prudent and not having a pot to piss in.

Forget about this being a big season for Everton, its a mammoth season for Moyes because just as Walter is remembered for playing all those defenders its just as likely Moyes will be remebered for a catastrophic transfer policy.

Still, there are those who believe the transfers are being held off announcement to counteract any KEIOC campaign. Maybe but I'm not so sure BK and Wyness are that cunning.

All the transfers depends on this Kirkby shite. Tell Keith Wyness to send his ballot across the park, then he may get the votes to move to Kirkby!

I’ve heard the rumours going round that transfers are being held back to coinside with the KEIOC/stadium debate but I can not see it.

What point would there be to Alan Smith (who we were meant to have bought a month ago) going to Newcastle for a medical/talks if it was all done and dusted?

What would be the point of Baines chatting to other clubs if the deal was done?

If that is what they are doing it’s not working and the board are merely frustrating the fans and making the club itself look silly.

The end is not nigh but it could all go very sour if not balanced correctly.

Mikel, Tim, AJ, Lescott, Yobo.... turn out the lights on your way out! Ive held back on the dramatics & panic since the last day of the
season but really it only takes one player to breathe discontent & others wil follow.

Scenario 1: Your a world class player, youve played your heart out for a full season, more than most because youre involved in a small squad. Daddy Warbucks promises the earth, squad numbers, fresh exciting faces & a plan to push on. You sign a new contract & on the 1st day of the season your squad is smaller, the business end of the club has managed to buy someone they released already & you embark on an embarassing foray in Europe with even less a squad due to injury & no cover. You get to the end of the season, finish mid table & no European football. A big club comes in for you with a can do attitude... hmm. EFC sell, announce a good profit & splash out 5% of the proceeds on Franny Jeffers.

Scenario 2: The prospect of going to work every other Saturday, dodging people carriers & having your new Bugatti scratched by shopping trolleys, having the Big Issue sellers inflating their prices & playing for Tesco Wanderers doesnt quite fit with your idea of playing in top flight in a big city.

Why wait til the end of the season... two seasons ago we sepnt most of the early part in the bottom half/relegaton zone - if we’re dumped out of Europe early and we’re struggling, I don’t think this great close team spirit will stick together for much longer - Look at this before a ball’s been kicked http://www.eatsleepsport.com/news_details.aspx?story_id=605030&l_id=1&t_id=31

And who blames him, a lot of people are and have been saying the same for a long time... including DM according to some reports.

Personally I don’t care that Alan Smith has gone elsewhere, he’s pretty much on par with Beattie only more injury prone.

I will however be very disappointed if Baines isn’t an Everton player by the start of the season.

Full agreement ’Toffee’... just read it myself & they’ll get him too probably... the ’big clug’ in the north east are forming a nice little team from our targets.. who wouldn’t want to go there with their realistic pay scale & ambition?? This is a team thats 80 million in debt & whats ours now... a quarter of that?? Goodison is the equivalent of a corner shop now... balancing up what?? All the outlay, stadium alterations... nah!

2009 Board Announcement :
The club is proud to announce that we are officially in the black with no debt giving Mr Kenwright the opportunity to make the maximum return on his investment & guarantee Mr Wyness a supply of pies for the forseeable future (sponsored by Tescos).
We leave leave the club in an excellent position for promotion back into the premiership & wish the squad of 11 all the best for the future.

You can just imagine the people around the fax machines at other clubs.... "there’s a one here from Everton, the peoples club" .... ha, ha (laughter rings around the office) Slam dunk in the bin for that one.
Or "ooooh, do we have 3 years to complete the transfer based on staged payments, based on annual grass growth, with an unborn academy player thrown in"... what a fuckin joke!!
Im gonna stop making my daughter wear her Everton kit, just settin her up for a lifetime of bullying!!

Portsmouth, Newcastle, Spurs, Man City, will have a big say this season, with their improved squads. Do any of you really think we’ll finish in the top six or the top ten for that matter?? Two of our main goal threats are out injured and there’s no replacement in the pipelines. I live in Newc and have to put up with Geordies everyday. They outbid us all the time. Emre, Parker, Smith, Owen to name a few. It ain’t fucking funny anymore!!!! oh the bastards.

Toffee, i hear you. Believe me i’d love to wipe that smirk of Kenwrights face. The only thing we can do is protest at the Wigan game. If we fuck up this season i think Moyes, Arteta and couple of others will be on their bike and who can blame them???
