Most Evertonians upbeat

Comments (12)

I must move in different circles to most Toffeewebbers as the majority of Evertonians I mix with are pretty up-beat about the Club at the moment.

The proposed move is an absolute`no brainer`and will probably attract a 75% approval vote. On the field, the addition of Jags,Pins and Baines can only strengthen what was a very effective side last season and before anyone cites the injuries to Cahill and Vaughan lets remember that we were without them for long periods in 06/07!

Of course Moyes will move to bring in a few back-up players before the deadline and the Beattie money may provide funds for a re-placement striker. But even if we go into the season as we are we shall be stronger than last year-and we did finish sixth.

Too many fans get exercised by the lack of `big money`signings but it`s just not Moyes`style and we`re all the better for that.

Make no mistake, these are exciting times for Evertonians and once the diversion of the ground debate is over we can settle down to what I am sure will be a memorable season.

Look forward to a memorable season? Not any more mate! Football is increasingly a non-competitive business, where we are but one team there making up the numbers and little else. Top four to remain as is this coming season. Spurs to have delusions of grandeur yet again and Newcastle to think above their station, as ever. Everton? We'll plod on, as good as the next team on our day; as average on many others, a goal or two either way the difference between three points and none! Our definitions of the word "memorable" obviously greatly differ!

It could be a memorable season for all the wrong reasons. One good season followed by one bad one (4th then 11th followed by last years 6th place )seems to be the Everton Way. We never seem to kick on. We had a real opportunity to make a statement of intent by making some significant transfer market moves (using the extra TV revenue)and money promised by BK back in April. All we have done is dithered yet again. Following Evertons transfers is like having teeth pulled without anesthetic.

Peter, have I missed something?Have we already signed Baines?Your comment seems to suggest we have signed him.And you are deffo wrong on the 75% approval vote.By the looks of it,it seems like it is going to go to the wire.

The Geordies are now entering the race for Baines. We can’t match the sill money they’re throwing about. So where did you get the 75% from???

Brian - the vote ’going to the wire’ comment gauls me somewhat. Name another club that would even bother with the views of the fans? Why should we get a vote anyway? Its not our club, we’re just followers whether you or anyone else likes it or not.

Someone else mentioned delusions of grandeur where Spurs are concerned - well I have 3 words for you my friend.

Pot Kettle Black.

Allan, why does the vote ’going to the wire’comment gaul you so?General consensus from polls done by this site and other sites, say that the outcome is going to be very close. And Allan, did you get out of bed the wronmg side this morning?what’s with the rant? The only thing I commented on, was that the vote was going to be a lot closer than Peter thinks it will be.I never mentioned anything about the club giving us a vote,or that we are entitled to a vote.I don’t even mention how I am goint to vote. So,I don’t know how you come to the conclussion of pot, kettle, black.Maybe you need to go and lay down in a darkened room for a bit!

Pot Kettle Black wasn’t aimed at you Brian, read it again.

I just get pissed off when everyone here goes about how ’they’ meaning the board are going to drag the club down by moving us etc, which is nonsense. These people are a mix of football men and business men, they’re not fans like us I grant you, but they WILL do what they believe is best for the club. They’re decision HAS to be a business one - fact. Its sink or swim and we all know it. The past means nothing, the future means everything.

I’m not aiming this at you cos like you say, I have no idea how you’re going to vote, it just annoys me that alot of people on here are so stuck in the past that they dont even realise that THEY are the ones holding the club back!

And relax...

PS I feel like shit so you might have a point!

Nice one Pete! All my Evertonian mates - and I know a fair few - are looking forward to another good season. And the vast majority, while reluctant to leave GP, accept the fact that the Kirkby is the best option if we want to move forward.

So why is the mailbag so miserable, pessimistic and unrealistic?

I’ve come to the conclusion that people who write into web pages like these are either:

1. Disgruntled punters looking to get shit off their chests.
2. Fantasists reeling off teamsheets of players they?d buy if they were manager or (more worryingly) sending in detailed plans of the stadium they?d build if they had a spare £200M (good grief how mad is that!).
3. Bored office workers with nowt else to do.

In short, there are a lot of frustrated middle aged men in here.

75% vote in favour?

Thanks for brightening up my Friday afternoon, and if you have any other good jokes, keep ’em coming.

Pete,

The proposed Kirkby move certainly is a "no- brainer".

And the answer is NO. It’s the most stupid proposal this incompetent board have produced to date. Even if they got the backing of the fans it wouldn’t happen as they are incapable of organising anything (except asset sales and even then the money disappears down a black hole)and nothing they have pronised has materialised.

The sooner they are gone the better for our club, though I feel it’s not going to happen.

What is also blatantly obvious is that we do still need more players. I think you will find both the manager and our most prominent players agree with that.
