Ahead of the game

I know I shall get panned for saying this but I do believe that the Club`s current reluctance to dabble in the transfer market is a positive sign that they are now conducting their affairs to a sound business plan.

The vast majority of money spent by clubs this summer has been `on tick`-increasing their borrowings in the hope of striking gold. But it just ain`t going to happen! The same old faces will be at the top-all of them up to their necks in debt albeit covered by this year`s sugar daddies. What now makes our club different is that we`re ahead of the game. We`ve already learned to manage our spending and the increased revenue from the Sky deal will soon see us firmly in the black and ready for the exciting move to the new ground. Moyes has proved he can work miracles-just look at his record -and has,I am sure indicated his confidence to continue in similar vein.So why splash money around on greedy no-marks?

OK,so it hasn`t made for an exciting summer but come 11th August,I`m sure we shall see that ,once again,Bill and davey got it right.COYB!

How sound is our business plan when we can’t afford the £1M for Vogel?
Allan

Where have we been told that we cant raise the £1m for Vogel? It beggars belief reading some peoples comments on here lately - everyone seems to have so much insider knowledge of the clubs finances, transfer policies and general day to day activity.

Do you all work for Everton Football Club?

Astonished in London.

George,This is what arteta had to say in an interview with sky.
"It is going to be a long season, and we definitely need new signing. If everyone is 100% and stays fit, then maybe we will be okay. But,if we get 2or3 injuries we are going to need more players."A bit further down,he says "we have a better squad, but it really is small".Does this sound like a man who is confident with the squad we have, going into a new season? To me,it sounds like a man who is worried.

I can’t make up my mind whether there’s a lack of movement in the transfer market due to a lack of hard cash or whether Moyes simply wants to spend it wisely.

I’d like to think it’s a cross between the two.

Of the purchases/loans Moyes has made they appear to be excellent decisions - even the Fernandes deal was what was needed at the time (although I’d much prefer him to have stayed).

What worries me is "Where’s the money coming from for the January window or next close season?" We’ve spent up the loans we have...

Clearly, Moyes has came out and said he’s looking at getting quite a few new players. Kenwright pledged money would be available for transfers. And leading squad members are expressing a concern at the lack of numbers AND quality coming in for a long season ahead.

Therefore, based on facts given, if we do not sign new players then Kenwright has been lying as there is no doubting the desire of Moyes and his squad to bolster for the coming season.

It isn’t shrewd upper-management at all if it’s blatantly obvious we need a few players in and the upper-management aren’t obliging. If we don’t sign a few players immediately and lose a few games at the start of the season, people will - rightfully - be calling for the boards head.

I’d like a new car, doesn’t mean I can have one.

Allan - was the car you wanted a Mercedes by any chance? ;-)
Allan
8   Posted 03/08/2007 at 12:34:49

Tony, no, I’d like an Audi please, maybe an S4 if you can arrange it. My current A4 is very dirty and I managed to blow up the water pump the other day so I have no engine cooling system or power steering at the moment.

If anyone at EFC reads this though and they have a Mercedes knocking about, get back to me ASAP and I’m sure we can come to some protracted, overly drawn out agreement which at the last moment will see my new Merc go to a Newcastle fan.

Shucks.

Allan,

the club are going to make you an offer. You can have the chassis, axle and wheels now. In 12 motnhs time, you can have the engine. Depending on the points you achieve on your licence during those 12 months, you will receive the interior fittings and exhaust system.

However, your car will be respossed if any other person makes an offer equal to or greater than a release fee.

It’s not all doom and gloom. I’ve sent Kenwright and his cronies a big black pot to piss in.

My mate had an old Mercedes that was a really good runner and had a good couple of years left in it. It was perfect timing too as I didn’t have a car and was planning a trip to Europe.

He only wanted a quid for it but I passed as I was being careful with my money and spending it wisely.

Doh!

I for one am starting to think this is another Bill soundbite, when he says that the money is there for players. We know we need a left sided full back,we know Baines wants to come, yet we are holding back signing him. Are we waiting to sell Beattie to get the money to pay for Baines? I agree we should not throw money away for the sake of spending, but we need this guy now, along with at least 3 other players.Always remember one thing, Bill Kenwright is a trained actor, believe me he would say anything that he thinks we want to hear, he has conned us for far too long.

Like Barton, Smith as gone to Newcastle on about 70 grand a week It;s rumoured the most we pay is 45. Rightley or wrongly we won’t or can’t pay big fee’s or wages.

70k a week for no-goals-but-tries-hard smudger (no goals) with his basel brush hair do and soon to be on remand pug-faced barton is just daft money. Much better 10k a week an unknown dane.
Vogel turned out be a pre op-german so he can fuck off too.
Personally I think the upcoming signings of Alexanderson’s brother and little tiny thomas will do. I look forward to the dashing runs and creative touches of chuckle and harry hill.
Come on you blues, Kirkby here we come!!

We were after Smith and lost out - we cant even buy Baines until we offload lardy Beattie and in the meantime Newcastle are looking to try and grab him.

It isn’t a sound business plan - basically we are skint and God knows why, but put it this way - this season will be a disaster due to the European commitments. This was our once chance were players actually WANTED to come to everton and we have simply no money to compete.

I hold nothing but fear for the forthcoming campaign

the way things are going I can see Moyes bringing in three more signings; Unsworth, Radzinski and Pembridge!! Ha Ha

I have never known a transfer policy like it..It’s pathetic. Just about every player we have been strongly linked with, has sign for someone else. I cling to the hope that they will pull a few surprises out of the bag.

I agree with George. I'm really looking forward to the kick off. All the talk will stop and let battle commence. Yes, I think we should have done more in the transfer market, but there's still time. On the ground move the "loop option" looks good to me. I have faith in Moyes and the boys in blue. I'm really looking forward to a good F.A.cup run, I can't wait to go to the new wembley. To all, have a very enjoyable season.
