With both Cahill and Vaughan injured it looks like we are going to start with the Anichebe and Johnson partnership. Although others dont rate Anichebe I do. I have heard people call him a athlete and nothing more but I think he is starting to show promise.

He is very strong and quick naturally and standing at 6ft 1 he is good in the air. Against Portsmouth at the end of the season I thought he had a better game than Vaughan. And against Werder Bremen he showed how much he has improved. His touch and awarness are alot better and he is learning to use his pace a bit more.

I couldnt actually tell if he was that quick until a few games in. He is a power runner. Poor acceleration but once he gets going he is a quick as anyone. If he does start against Wigan I think he will show us how much he has improved. Is it me or is there always a better atmosphere around goodison when the likes of Anichebe and Vaughan start? When Beattie or even McFadden start everyone is less optimistic.

Actually I think McFadden will do well this season as Moyes will have no choice but to give him games with the small squad. McFadden links up well with Arteta, as both like to play with more flair than the rest of the squad and tend to be on the same page when making runs. I wonder how he could do slotting into Cahill’s position playing up with the strikers as an attacking midfielder. But Victor will do well also. The question is whether our strikers stay healthy long enough for Vaughan to get back.

David,I would like McFadden to do well(He reminds me of an old fashioned winger)but I just think he is to in-consistant.When things are not going for him,he becomes prone to make to many mistakes.Maybe the way this transfer saga is going, this could be his big chance to stand up and be counted.

Connor, nothing against the lad but I don’t rate Victor that highly and it makes me despair when fellow fans think our strike force is adequate.

Loathe them maybe but look at Newcastle’s strike force, for example.

Too much pressure on Victor to do well anyway.

Ray im not saying our strike force is adaquate. I would love to see another striker in aswell as a midfielder and defender. But I think he has improved and will help us. Im not saying he should be first choice but he will come in handy both from off the bench and in the starting line up. Oh yes and by the way does anyone think Vaughab will be back for the derby. That is the one game I would love to see him play.

Connor, I was referring to those fans who think that our forward line is adequate. I agree, Victor would make a semi-decent squad player but I don’t think he’ll be any more than that.

Vaughan’s injured, Beattie doesn’t deliver, McFadden’s not even a striker and that leaves AJ whose good, but not top notch.

your all crazy...he’ll start Beattie up front with AJ, that’s why Beattie has not been sold
