Wait 'til 31 August!

I read somewhere on ToffeeWeb that Everton were holding back the announcement of the Smith signing until the eve of the Kirby ballot. Now, knowing how manipulative they are — or seek to be — I could believe that. The trouble is that although Moyes may have done a deal with his mate at Old Trafford, he clearly hadn`t put the time in with the player whose agent obviously had more ambitious (lucrative ) offers for him to consider.

Now history is repeating itself with Baines although this time it's the other way round. The player is desperate to sign so Everton are playing hardball over the fee and Wigan are well pissed off with the whole business.

Over the past five years there have been dozens of "warm" leaks in the local press that Everton are on the brink of a signing only to see last minute complications arise with work permits, bonus payments, agents' fees and famously a "failed medical" later denied by the player.

Perhaps the clue to these problems — which only Everton seem to experience — was given in the mind-bending complications surrounding the Rooney sale. As I understand it, lawyers are still busy trying to sort out who owes who how much! Add the fact that Everton always want to buy players "on the strap" and it's no wonder so few deals ever get to fruition.

I guess we can console ourselves with the knowledge that on or around 31 August, dozens of agents will be assailing Finch Farm with videos of latter-day Van der Meydes and Moyes can at last "get numbers in" very much on the cheap.

Isn't it refreshing to know our club is so well conducted?

The fact that he’s signed for Newcastle blows the original nonsense thoery out of the water, though.

How you can twist this obvious garbage into another conspiracy theory is almost beyond belief.

The world is apparently flat after all, you know.....

These damn conspiracy theories need to go. Yes we need more players. Yes we are not spending money. But this shit of us cutting deals with other clubs in order to give us a PR boost is just stupid. Enough already!!
