Andy Cole

I can see us going in for Andy Cole. Just had his contract terminated by Portsmouth and is looking for a new club in the Premier League.

I'd go in for him. At 35 he is not going to stop the development of Vaughan and Anichebe but can step in and play a good few games next season. Didn't we go in for him last season? I'm sure we tried to get him in but he ended up going to Portsmouth. He is a natural goalscorer could come on the cheap and offer us some experience.

I think Cole is past his best and rather injury prone. And likley to demand high wages. Leave well alone...

I watched Anders Limpar play for the world 11 against England in Alan ball’s charity match last week. The guys still got a good touch and good technique. Rumour has it, he wants to leave the world 11 as they are not a big club. They have a ageing squad and don’t match his own ambitions. Limpar has been quoted saying he wants to rejoin a young and up coming team like Everton and also would love the challenge of Europe. Talks between Everton and Limpar’s agent are ongoing. a deal is expected to be done over the weekend and introduced to the media on Monday. don’t be suprised if Kenwright and Co. cock that one up aswell!!!

Seems a sensible idea as we are short on numbers and reaching the stage where the club will be restricted to the clearance items shelf in any case. You know the one, has all the manky pieces of fish and meat going brown colour

Shaka, did that come through Ben Chambers and his DJ source?
Shaka
5   Posted 04/08/2007 at 14:43:15

Anthony, that came from a close source. My neighbour knows a girl, who knows this other girl. Who knows David Moyes’s wife. Who knows David Moyes.

I don’t know if I am just not up to date? But the official site have said Beattie has joined Sheff UTD for £4m,rising to £4.5 with add ons.
Allan

Correct, buy one James Beattie, get a free mug.
Shaka
9   Posted 04/08/2007 at 14:51:09

Brian, it’s true beattie has gone Sky Sports reported it about 2 hours ago. Beattie was also paraded before the Sheff Utd game along with former Everton trainee carney. The transfer money will now disappear into thin air.

Like I said somewhere else Allan, the whole club is run by muppets

Oh by the way, shouldn’t that have read: ’find a free mug to buy James Beattie’ ?

I think right now I’d celebrate the arrival of Andy Cole with a mass celebration, its becoming that bad..Even Sheff Utd have spent more money than Everton this summer.

The club has reached the bottom of the barrel if all it can hope for is Andy Cole, think back to the shite Walter signed and it’s history repeating itself. Past it journeymen looking for one last meal ticket, no thanks

Just heard Biffa give an interview on Sky, he sounded gutted to have left.

He didnt mention anything about any new signings, surprisingly.

Newcastle look more likely to be buying the Villareal full-back now, clubs have already agreed a fee according to Sky.

18   Posted 04/08/2007 at 15:53:54

Everton won’t be able to match the wages on offer for Baines, by Newcastle. Who would you sign for? A club that is offering you about 60k a week salary or a club that offers you five shillings a week????
Allan
19   Posted 04/08/2007 at 15:57:09

Shaka - do you have anything to offer beyond derogatory remarks?

I’ve not been on here long but all I’ve seen from you is snidey comment and negativity.
Shaka
20   Posted 04/08/2007 at 15:58:28

Allan, how is it negativity? What has the Everton board done to make me and other Blues optimistic? We’ve had over a week to sign Baines. But it hasn’t happened. It’s my way of showing frustration at the Everton board. I admit it is sarcasm. But read between the lines. All my comments make a point in a funny way.
Allan
21   Posted 04/08/2007 at 16:06:48

Has it occured to you that its not JUST about OUR board? Maybe Wigan were holding out for another firm bid to come in from Newcastle before they let the player speak to another club. The reports say that he’s been given permission to speak to BOTH clubs. Think about it.
Shaka
22   Posted 04/08/2007 at 16:07:36

Here’s some good news for you Allan. The BBC are reporting Everton have just made a 11mill bid for Gonzalez. Moyes is hoping to push through with the deal as he faces competion from Juve and other clubs. Should i get excited??
Shaka
23   Posted 04/08/2007 at 16:10:03

Wigan want 6m. Baines wanted to come to Everton. So what’s the hold up?? The board are trying to get Baines on the cheap. With 4mill up front and the rest being add ons. It’s not Wigans fault.
Allan
24   Posted 04/08/2007 at 16:10:47

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit Shaka. You’re clearly not as bright as you’d like to think you are. When you’ve gained the ability to form a balanced view then I might find it in myself to show you a little more respect.

The bids reported for Gonzalez have been banded about all afternoon, I personally dont believe we’ll buy him even if we have put in a real bid.
James McCourt

Sorry to interrupt the Shaka and Allan half hour.
But does anybody know the palace score?
And I we’ve just resigned Rooney Mickey not Wayne obviously !!
Shaka
27   Posted 04/08/2007 at 16:15:37

Sarcasm being lowest form of wit. Tell me something i don’t know. Why are the Everton board making bids if they won’t buy him?? Cahill and Vaughn are out. In Jan Yobo, Anchebe and Pienaar will be off to the African Nations. The squad will be stretched. Where is the fianaces for new players?? Can you see the Everton board signing 3-4 players before the dead line?? So why should i be optimistic? why shouldn’t i take the piss?? Commom smart guy i’ll be gratefull if you can answer some of the questions!! As i am not that bright. I’ll show my frustration in any way i feel. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of banter, just to cheer everyone up. You should get your head out of Kenwright’s arse. His taking everyone for a ride.
Allan
28   Posted 04/08/2007 at 16:34:26

I’m not saying I’m happy with the lack of signings, I just dont see the point in people (like you) who say nothing constructive. Change the record Shaka, everything you’ve mentioned has been said again & again on here and its both tiresome and pointless.

I will though, answer your turgid questions just to stop you yapping.

The Everton baord are making bids, but I very much doubt we’ll lure a player thats wanted by Valencia, Lyon and Real Madrid.

We dont have any money to spend on players as far as I can tell, though we are trying to cut players plus cash or pay in part now deals - hence the lack of activity.

3-4 players - no.

Optimism has to be better than pessimism - at least a positive attitude could help matters.

I dont see anything wrong with taking the piss, but when its all you have to offer it just gets a bit, well...boring.
Shaka
29   Posted 04/08/2007 at 16:44:12

You must have missed all the constructive comments i’ve made earlier in the week. No i won’t be repeating them. As everyone else has also repeated them. Why are they making false bids. It’s not very clever is it? If they’re skint they should come out and say it. That way the likes of me and others will stop talking the piss Ok. Give me a reason to be optimistic.
Allan
30   Posted 04/08/2007 at 16:51:34

I didnt say we were making false bids. I said we were probably making players + cash bids or buy now pay later bids, which people dont want. So when papers/websites claim we’ve made bids of £10M, technically that may be true, but we dont have the money up-front.

You seem quite short-sighted Shaka, thats basically what Im saying.

31   Posted 04/08/2007 at 16:45:30

Why does everyone on here think players should be queuing up to sign for Everton.Their CEO plays hardball on wages and the manager has a rep in the game as a miserable bugger who uses a slavedriver approach.Much as we love our club to outsiders we’re just another faded outfit with absolutely no glamour. And most of the WAGS prefer the highlife in London,Manchester and Newcastle. My missus certainly wouldn’t live in Liverpool if she had a bloody choice.Wise up will youse

Shaka
33   Posted 04/08/2007 at 16:58:28

If we don’t have the money then why are we making bids?? That’s false bids!! That was the point i was trying to make. If things are starting to get abit boring (your words not mine) then you should move over to the Bluekipper site.
Allan
34   Posted 04/08/2007 at 17:02:20

They’re not false bids though Shaka, just not full cash ones.

History agrees with me, we rarely pay up front in full for players unless they’re cheap. That you cant argue with.

37   Posted 04/08/2007 at 16:52:36

Just watched the game.Boy,are we screaming out for another striker who knows where the net is.An okay first half, was followed by a piss poor second half.Arteta had a quiet first half by his standards, and never played second half.We hit the woodwork 3 times but all them chances came from set plays. We never looked like scoring from open play.We need to practice our long range shooting, apart from one effort by Carsley, everything else wouldn’t have looked out of place in a rugby game. The young lad Bjarni came on,but for me is to slight, and easily knocked off the ball.Lucas came on,never really did much with the game fizzling out.I think the 2 young lads are just a token gesture to make the squad look bigger.Hibbert and Stubbs need to be told you don’t have to keep hoofing the ball forward all the time.Da Silva is a squad player,no more than that and I can’t see him starting many games this season.AJ was his usual bundle of energy, and chased everything down.Problem was,he was most of the time out wide chasing the ball down.Victor did ok,had a great volley which hit the bar.Jags hit the bar(I think he should have scored)he looked a little shaky when he went to right back, where he was nut-megged twice by the young Palace winger.Overall a game to forget.
Allan
38   Posted 04/08/2007 at 17:13:04

I agree Brian, I watched it too, 1st half was ok, 2nd was woeful.

Victor cant pass, nor can Jags, Arteta is by far our best player and Lescott should stay inside his own half for his own embarassment. Even Nuno can cross better than him.

We do need a striker and Da Silva is second rate on that performance. We’ll look alot better with Ossie, Neville and Cahill in the team, pluc Vaughan if he stays fit for longer than 45mins.

Allan the point is we can moan as we spend our hard earned wages at EFC and like any other service if we are not happy we have the right to complain as customers who are not getting value for money. If your steak was rotten woul you pay for a meal in a restaurant ?
Brian Waring
40   Posted 04/08/2007 at 17:26:57

I don’t know whether you would agree with me Allan? But did you think Jags looks to slow? The young palace winger went past him to easily a few times for my liking.I thought one of his plus points was his pace?
Allan
41   Posted 04/08/2007 at 17:36:33

Jagielka didnt look fit to me, maybe even carrying a bit of weight, and yeah very slow. His passing was terrible and he looked well off the pace.

Shaun - I understand where you’re coming from and I’ve had my moments of moaning as well, its just that certain people say nothing other than complaining. I’m the eternal optimist and I try to see the good in people but when some just moan and say nothing constructive it gets on my (man)tits.

He we are again on the Eve of another season. I pointed out earlier in the week who was going to score the goals, I got one reply stating that not many teans scored more than us last year. We also played the least games out of everyone, something I think we may well repeat given yet another paper-thin squad which is already getting injuries before the bloody season has began. I am very worried, I herad Talksport mention that Everton are going to struggle given the transfer exploits at Villa, Newcastle, Spurs, Wigan, West Ham, Birmingham, Man City and Blackburn have a better sqaud too. The only conclusion I can make about these clubs is that they are not run by Wankers. It’s about time we made our opinions heard-Kenwright Out.

Koumas and Nugent both scored for their respective teams today. I watched the Palace game too and pretty much agree with what Brian has said. Once again we lacked the cutting edge up front. Huffing and puffing doesnt get goals. I was hoping to see some good crosses from both Jags and Nuno (second half) but we seem to want to always play down the centre of the park rather than drag defenders out wide, beat the man and get a good cross in. Valente was trying to make runs down the left only to see the ball cut inside to cars or De Silva. We did not impress and I too was a bit disappointed in jagielka. Nuno had a poor game on Tuesday but Jags was hardly sparkling today. Anderson gave the ball away and AJ chased and chased. COYB, we can do better than this, can’t we?
Like I said, Nugent and Koumas scored today. Oh damn, this is like a bad dream. Just trying to think of some real positives from the game, can anyone help me out ’cos I’m struggling.
