Number 9?

Comments (9)

Any statto out there know if Everton have ever started a season with the Number 9 shirt vacant? I can't say I'm sorry to see the back of Lard Boy Beattie and have posted I'd rather see Vaughan wear the 9 than him but I also can't see this potless club buying a forward now, a bit like going to buy your Christmas dinner food on Christmas Eve; all that's left is battered, bruised and unwanted cast offs

We refused to pay inflated prices earlier in the transfer window. What are clubs going to do now when Everton make a bid for a forward with just a week to go before the season starts? You guessed it, inflate the prices?

Common sense tells me that Everton must already have a deal in the pipeline? There again, that seems to be a commodity lacking at the moment.

We must have started season 94-95 without a number 9 because Duncan Ferguson got the shirt and he was signed in October 94

in 94/95, cottee wore the number 9 and then he was sold after the start and ferguson inherited a then vacant shirt

Ray Ive been going since 1958 and commonsense has never been a asset this club has but on that front Kenwright has excelled himself loathe as I am to protest enough is enough KENWRIGHT OUT

How about we get Benni McCarthey in for the number 9 spot - there’s a release clause isn’t there. Also, what about Ghaly now his Birmingham switch has fallen through? He may need an attitude adjuster but can’t really blame him for not wanting to look at Steve Bruce’s ugly mug on a regular basis, never liked that ex-manc twat

Ghaly? Don’t make me laugh. EXACTLY the sort of player that Moyes wouldn’t sign and one of the main reasons that with Moyes in charge we’ve a tight knit squad who more often than not achieve far greater than some other clubs with larger squads who have spent far more money. As for Beattie i’m sad it didn’t work out at EFC for him. You can’t blame Moyes as it’s like the Richard Wright deal, more fans than not were well pleased with the deal. I wish Beatts the best of luck and whatever anyone thinks i’m certain he always tried his best for us. There must be some deals in the pipeline. I really can’t see Moyes allowing us to go into the season with only one fit senior striker.

Mark, it appears that Moyes doesn’t want to sign ANY fucker at the moment which restricts us to the clearance shelf - the Coles and Ghalys of this world. You can’t see Moyes letting us go into the season under-equipped??? We did a season before last and got fucking smashed by Bucharest, not to mention a few other embarrassments on home soil

Andy Coles on his way! he’s a freebie so he’s right up this clubs street, seriously though i think moysie must have something up his sleeve, fingers and toes crossed although vic and aj up front is a good partnership with vaughan to come back in but we do need a big signing.
where the hell is vogel?
