Everton ? the scouting club

Comments (14)

Does anyone else have the sense of dread when any player we're interested in gets mentioned as also being tracked by the fat barcodes?

Whilst it is no surprise that we go after similar players, is it just a coincidence or are we in fact their scouts? Having said that, based on some of the players they've signed in recent years then, we must be crap at that as well. I just hope we're paid a considerable retainer for our services.

I used to feel the same as you Alan but it’s happened so many times now that you get hardened to it. Unless we change the modus operandi and get rid of the shower of shit in charge then it’s just more of the bloody same mate

anybody who votes for the kirby move now needs their head examined. The gonsalez rumor is yet another smokescreen for bk to fool us fans . He must think we are a bunch of idiots. He should go now. The scence of failure and depression is truly awful.

Well according to Wikipedia Gonzalez bid accepted...wouldn’t that be nice

Luis Oscar ’Lucho’ González (born January 19, 1981 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine football (soccer) player.

Called Lucho by fans, González played from the age of 14 for Huracán until his transfer to River Plate in 2002. At River Plate, he was part of the 2004 Clausura championship winning team. He played with the Argentina team that won the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics. His performances at River Plate earned him a deal with FC Porto in 2005, where he became team captain and attracted interest from clubs in major European leagues.

He played in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, in which Argentina lost to hosts Germany in the quarter-finals by penalties. He has scored 5 goals in 30 international appearances, as of July 2006.

He was part of the National team at the Copa América 2007

On the 4th August 2007, Porto received a £10 million bid from Everton for the services of the player. The bid has now been accepted and he will join new club Everton on August 6th 2007, regarding work permit.

Just a trivial point here but one attraction could be that his future fellow mucker in midfield speaks Spanish and would help him settle in. IF it comes off we just need to sign the last part of our new holy trinity!!!

Just listening to Erickson on sky talk about Citys tranfers when asked about outgoings he replied yes there will be but you have to sign players before you sell. I wonder are our whizz kids listening. I dont blame Moyes not at all. I blame Kenright totally and unless we make our feelings clear at the wigan game we could be in for a hard season. Where is the sky money 6th place finish etc. gone oviously in to the Kirby move which seems its going to cost the club alot more than first expected. Go billy bullshiter please go

BK surely realises we’re not gonna fall for the token bid on a player we’ve got no chance signing AGAIN.
Is that why the No 10 was left vacant, to add weight to the line he fed Mikky and Cahill that something big this way comes.
If he’s got any sense - Gonzalez Monday, Ballot Papers Tuesday, Job Done Wednesday - Bill gets the popular vote on the wave of enthusiasm. And if you throw in Baines that’s 4 players BETTER than the ones we let go, couple of loan signings, like a striker and Lazarus, I mean Vogel, all of a sudden we’re looking half decent. Better than Spurs 1st 11 with the exception maybe of Berbatov...
Then again Bill could be underestimating the average season ticket holder BUT IT WONT WORK THIS TIME BILL. Show us the money, fill the no 10 left enticingly vacant. Roll on Saturday COYB

In answer to Tony re Wikipedia; if you click on the ’history’ tag at the top of the article, you’ll see one of the little elves deleted the para having classed it as "speculation". Evidently it did not cite it’s supporting sources - recommended for all ’authoratative’ articles.

Wikipedia is not a waste of space; well, not entirely. And anyway, whenever you use any reference work, academics will always tell you they’re best when used in conjunction with other ones.

Chris, thanks but the tongue was just a little in cheek..Had already checked the Porto web site and there’s nothing there about any bid, accepted or even lodged. But Bill can’t be blamed for speculation (that coincidentally suits his purposes just fine) can he? Even if it began with his man in the Post

Soz mate I think you got the Wikipedia entry wrong. See final paragraph It is copied below.

He was part of the National team at the Copa América 2007

The English press are speculating that Lucho could be close to signing for English Premier League club, Everton in a deal reputed to be worth £11m. Unofficially, sources at Everton confirm that an offer has been made and that they are awaiting a response from Porto. However, there has not yet been any official confirmation of a bid from either club. Previous reports that Lucho has signed for Everton are entirely speculative.

Barry, you miss the point about Wikipedia, that is, it’s a ’wiki’.

It’s a site that all and sundry can amend, edit, compose etc. etc., so that, if one minute someone deletes a thing, next minute it can be put back again, etc. etc. etc..

It’s all called ’user generated content’. Generally on Wikipedia it’s good. Occasionally, like Tony Marsh’s contributions on this website, it’s pants!
