An open letter to Dominic King

Dear Dom , I can't let your most recent piece in the pink echo go without comment. To do so would I believe betray my cub scout reporting badge, a badge I assume you also proudly hold and which no doubt was the key to obtaining your current employment.

In your latest 'report' you immediately and without any crtical assessment absolved the club of all blame for the 'summer of no transfers' and scolded the club's followers to get behind the team.

Firstly, I should say that we need no lectures from an alleged red to get behind the team — we will get behind them as we always have done but what, I think, you were really suggesting is that we get behind Kenwright. Well, sorry, Dom, but that's not going to happen anytime soon and for very good reasons.

However, my main point is that this article contrasts with one 'written' by you earlier this summer, when again you scolded the fans that they could only legitimately complain about the lack of transfers in August. In both pieces there is a barely disguised contempt for ordinary fans who you clearly believe don't understand the complex world of football.

Th truth is that we see things only too clearly and your about-face marks you down as someone whose overriding priority would appear to be to act as an uncritical friend of the club.

My advice would be to bring more integrity and professionalism to your role and then maybe you and your employer would not be dismissed by 99.9% of Everton fans as an irrelevance when it comes to providing relevant and meaningful information on the club

Yours,

John

Part of the problem here is that Dominic King and Ian Doyle are both Reds, and at the end of the day they don’t care about Everton. They just do a professional job, which is fair enough, and seem decent lads. Phil McNulty and David Prentice are, by contrast, rabid Evertonians.

I can confirm that he is an RS. I once met his Dad (a very nice man)who told us so. I do think the Post & echo should look at this as eventually this sort of thing will come to light. If they think it doesn’t matter, then it proves they don’t know Football fans. Also has anybody noticed a bias towards the RS on Radio Merseysides sports bullitins of late

I must agree that some of the stories Dominic King has come up with this summer have been shite..It used to be reliable the Echo for its more truthful stories and the football gossip was based more on fact and not fiction like many Sunday papers..But this summer we have had Keiron Richardson practically at Bellefield..We’ve been closing in on Alan Smith and had Jason Koumas top of our list and who can forget the Paul Scharner story back in May? That made big headlines on the back of the Echo..Dominic do you actually speak to David Moyes before printing this crap or is it just a figment of your imagination?
