Lucho or Lies?

Rumours are bouncing around that we have completed a £11.3 Million deal to sign Lucho Gonzalez.
If this is true then where the hell did we get £11.3 million from, and why did we not spend it on Fernandes?
I tend not to believe anything that comes out of Goodison right now and will only believe it when I see his smiling face on the back of The Sun!

On BBC sport!

It doesnt for 1 second mention that we’ve COMPLETED a move for anyone, it just states that we’ve made a bid.
Jeez.

That deal won’t go through in a month of Sundays. Absolutely no chance - he’s one of the best players in the world.

This has been talked about on here for 2 days now, to exactly the same conclusion. He wont sign for us, especially if we dont have a manager (as per other thread)
Lee

Well, I guess we could talk about the other half-dozen players we’re strongly linked with and about to sign in a few days...
Oh... wait...

Allan, I too was waiting for the punchline. Seems BK & KW really know how to bring us crashing back into reality. If the Moyes rumours are true, which they appear to be, then we better gear up for a cold harsh winter.

What do you mean "appear to be"? It’s a rumour!

Jason Broome,
"If the rumours are true AS THEY APPEAR TO BE" ?!
In what way do they appear to be true exactly ? They are completely unsubstantiated rumours and nothing more. Just because a few people have heard them (They would do wouldn’t they, what with one person posting it on the internet an numerous people passing them on and on ?) doesn’t give them any credence.
This stupid over-reacting needs to stop. Now.

Has anyone from an OFFICIAL club source stated that Everton have made a bid for Gonzales?
Theres nothing on the OFFICIAL FC Porto web site ie in portuguese?
They are even advertising aCredit Card with his name and picture on.
Or is it just mischief by the Daily Diana?

This is another shity smokescreen £11m bid my arse ! Madrid have already had a £13m bid turned down so why would Porto accept £11m 3 weeks later ? Fucking idiots BK and his buddys thinking we ll fall for this shit for the 10th time. This lad is good player and Id love him here but its not going to happen we know that. Why would we spend that much on him when we wont sign a proven player for less who DID want to come to us ? We ll get Baines but thats about all the quality we ll get.

I’ll reiterate Haveany source OFFICIALLY from Everton Football Club stated that they have made a bid for Gonzales?

If nobody from the club has come out and stated that Everton have made a bid for Gonzales.
I take it that it is purely conjecture on behalf of the Daily Rags and some excitable websites.
So It must be BK’s fault!
How many other players have Everton actually said they have made bids for?
Paranoia or what?

Chris R,if it is not true, why don’t the club come out and confirm this?Surely they must have had wind of it,considering it has been all over sky and the papers.

Why Should they?

If dickheads want to get into a tizzy of excitement over every bit of tittle tattle why should the club spoil their fun?
To deal with so many rumours would require an Official Rumour Department. Even then it would be rumoured that it was creating its own rumours.
Just can’t win with some folk.

The reason why they should have done it Chris,is because it would have nipped the rumour in the bud. They never officially made a bid for Smith, and when he went to Newcastle the club got slated for it.Even though,as I said they never officially made a bid for him,it was through the media linking us with him.The same with this rumour,it’s the media again.Problem is,with the club being silent over it,some fans are starting to think the rumour has legs. So,when it comes out he has gone somewhere else, the club will probalby get slated again.even though, again, they never officially said they made a bid.And ’Dick’ head, how long does it take to maybe inform Sky.Along the lines off,Everton have denied the rumours concerning Gonzalez, and have made no bid and have no intentions of making one. Also,Don’t everton have a media office?Wouldn’t they have been getting calls about rumour?

If the club was to deny every single rumour for every single player we have been associated with no other work would ever get done!! Everton Football Cub does not exist just to confirm or deny every single rumour. If people want to believe we have made bids for Smith/Gonzales/Nugent/Kuyt/Ronaldo/Pele/Maradona/The Virgin Mary/Buddha/Trotsky then it is up to that person to assess the source of the rumour and therefore it’s credibility. i would suggest that a brief entry in a tabloid newspaper is not a reliable source.

Today (Monday), Sky Sports reported on their web-site that Porto’s manager is determined not to lose any more of his stars.
Jesualdo Ferreira is determined not to lose any more of his Porto players before the close of the transfer window.
The likes of Anderson and Pepe have already left the Portuguese champions over the summer, while other members of the squad are attracting interest.
>Real Madrid, having already acquired Pepe, are reportedly lining up a bid for Portugal international midfielder Ricardo Quaresma.
Club captain Lucho Gonzalez, meanwhile, is being eyed by clubs in the Premier League, with Manchester City having been credited with an interest.
The latest speculation suggests Everton have made a club record bid to bring Gonzalez to Goodison Park.
But, speaking after his side’s win over Shanghai Shenhua in the Port of Rotterdam Tournament, Porto coach Ferreira outlined his intention to keep his key players.
Ferreira told a press conference: "No, I am not prepared to lose any more."

Just read on a French footy site that Valence did offer ?15M for Gonzalez: that's roughly £10M. this at least shows that the supposed bid by EFC is at the right level.
But what on earth can his salary level be currently?? Is this realistic?
Any way to find out? Uefa public data file stats on players anyone? Pity.
