Springtime in Kirkby

Comments (7)

Here is a synopsis for a well known movie that could be remade.

Fiction, stranger than fact.

Down-on-his-luck theatrical producer Max Biyalistok (played by Bill Kenwright) is forced to romance rich old friends to finance his efforts. When bankrupt accountant Leo Bloom (played by Keith Wyness) joins the company and reviews Max's books, the two hit upon a way to make a fortune by producing a sure-fire flop.

The idea which is to be their gold mine? - "Springtime in Kirkby." (copyright Kenwright Productions)

Raise more money than you need for a SURE FIRE Flop football stadium.

No one will suspect anything bad and you can pocket millions when it completely fails and you sell it.

They need the ultimate bad song to do this.

They find it in the new Everton theme song ?Springtime for Kirkby and Everton?.

Written and produced by Gordon Clegg (Internationally renowned actor of Coronation Street fame).

It can't fail, it's almost like real life.

when we were young, in our school in Toxteth and in all inner city schools had this song which i’am sure you older guys have heard before, the chorus goes "I DON’T WANT TO GO TO KIRKBY", DON’T WANT TO GO TO SPEKE, I ONLY WANT TO GO, IS THE PLACE I KNOW, DOWN BACK BUCHANNAN STREET, OK DOWN BACK TO GLADY;S STREET.

the reason i mention the above song was because in the 60s-70s the Lpool city council tried to get a lot of us out of the inner city, to places i have mentioned, we did not go, we stayed. they then slowly decided to build up the inner city areas, the exact same will happen with EFC be patient vote no and we will be re-developed.

I can also think of another old song. In my Liverpool home, we speak with an accent exceedingly rare if you want a cathedral we’ve got one to spare In my Liverpool home.

No where in the song does it mention a football club to spare.
