Getting Excited

Does any club make their supporters run the gamut of emotion more than Everton? It has been quite a roller-coaster ride this summer with all the stadium talk and transfer activity or inactivity, but finally the season is starting. I must say that the stadium issue has been disappointing, as it seems to have divided the fanbase. But the vote will decide this issue, so let's all place our votes and see what happens. We need to remember that we are all Evertonians ? for God's sake, let's act like it.
We now have less than one week until the season begins, and appear to have wrapped up Baines. This excites me, the guy is a top left back and there can be no argument about whether this strengthens our squad. We now have a very good defense, one of the best in the league, and my friends that is the cornerstone for success in any league.
Our summer activity seems to be left until late, frustrating to us fans who all wanted something good to talk about but I can now see the reasoning for staying out of the early transfer market. The prices were inflated and the players were average. We are now being highly linked with an Argentine international midfielder and possibly a striker from Barcelona. I know this is only rumour, but for some reason I have a good feeling about the Argentine fellow. I don't have any stupid sources or anyone who knows the third cousin of the groundskeeper's drinking buddy who says...... I just have a good feeling, don't know why. And I would prefer this guy to Fernandes.
But what really gets me going is the fact that we have a very English EPL team. Our backline consists of Hibbert, Lescott, Jagielka, Baines, Stubbs. Two English strikers in AJ, Vaughan and Victor has been raised in England even though he plays for Nigeria. And our midfield has Osman and Neville. I just think it gives us a little bit more to be proud of when we go up against most of the league with a lineup that is lucky to contain three Englishmen.
I'm over in America and I won't be able to watch the match live, but will have to try to wait until it is shown at 11:30 AM. But when the game starts I will raise my glass of Chang (yes they can be found over here if you look hard enough) and toast all of you lucky enough to be at Goodison Park to cheer on our Blues as they go on to crush Wigan!! "It's a grand old team to play for, it's a grand old team to support..." I just got chills typing that, can't wait to hear you all singing it! COYB!

I’m still waiting for my wife to give the go ahead. She’s very close to her family and is just not quite ready, completely understandable, but it could be another year or a bit longer. But we will be coming out there this year to look at houses and job opportunities, just to get a feel for it. And no doubt I will be attending every match that is played while I’m there. Can’t wait to hear Z cars again, brings Chills and a tear to my eye every time.
