Anybody at home!?

Knock Knock... Ding Ding, Baines has joined the club, but Kenwright is too busy posting the tickets for his new musical to announce anything. The official website will pick up on it in a few days I suppose.

I am beginning to give up with this club, after 37 years, we don't even feature in the Sky press ad, we get the last 30 seconds on Match of the Day, we have no strikers, no money, a ground that looks like my first Subutteo set, a crap away kit and I presume Van der Meyde is injured again?, I am off to buy some wool, gonna start knitting... blue wool of course!!

This suggests Baines has failed his medical, probably due to a thigh strain he was reported to have picked up recently. Where does that leave him? For God's sake, it's a slight niggle, don't let this spoil our most coveted transfer this summer.

I think it must be worse than a slight niggle Adam. Someone has mentioned, that the club have lined up a second medical tomorrow.I can imagine the club are more worried about the length of time the injury may keep him out.

Wouldn’t read too much into the second medical (if there is one).

It wouldn’t be the first time the club has done this.

Anyway, was Beattie not signed even though he was injured?

Will, I hope you’re being sarky mate, because if you’re not, my belief that Evertonians are the best fans in the world (TM) is fading rapidly

Yeah its probably just for the insurance company to keep the premium low. He played in the euro’s this summer didnt he? So he cant be properly crocked.. sometimes if a player is carrying a ’day to day’ or week to week injury the insurance company want a 2nd or 3rd opinion to make sure they arent about to be twated on a payout a few months after they cover him.

He’s having the 2nd part of his medical tomorrow - whats the problem? Overeacting as usual.

Scenario for the optimists (of which I am one)..

Today..

Afternoon, Baines has his medical, and passes.

Evening, Personal Terms worked out.

Tomorrow (Tueday)

Morning, club sorts out a press conference, Baines is officially unveiled as an Everton player, complete with picture of him wearing a shirt, with the possibility of a scarf being present too. Along side, David Moyes.

I think at the moment, that last bit, may be a good reason why nothing is yet up.

We also signed Arteta when he was injured (I know it was a loan) cos we didnt see him for about a month after he arrived!

It hasn’t been announced in the official site yet because the transfer hasn’t been finalised yet. He’s having the second part of his medical tomorrow and will sign when that’s done.

Does Will really think that Kenwright runs the official website and bangs out the articles when he gets the chance.

As someone said earlier, if this isn’t sarcasm....

You’re all doom and gloom merchants, with 1 or 2 exceptions. He’s signing tomorrow - find something else to moan about. Not a problem for most of you. You’re not supporters, just 24/7 whingers

He has signed. Just read it on Sky website and they’ve lifted it from wigan’s. It’s got direct quotes from Baines himself.

im on the understanding that the finalising of the deal is tomorrow.

baines is a great buy for everton but im still left puzzled by the clubs actions this summer.

the strongest part of our squad last year was our defence.our weakness was our squad size being so small. we also lacked creativity in midfeild if arteta is taken out.

so what do the club do in the transfer window ? buy 2 defenders and reduce the squad size !!!

a creative midfielder (like fernandes) and perhaps also a striker (like nugent) are still needed.(2 efc balls ups before a ball is kicked i feel)

with it now being so close to kickoff , i doubt that the quality needed will be arriving. i expect a season of stop gap players and square pegs in round holes.
expect a midfeilder playing as a striker , a defender in cm , valente on the left wing and neville on the right wing ...all coming your way soon !

Nick Harris, you are being a little too harsh here, Baines is an inspired buy. Without a quality left back all the club has to rely on is Valente for the whole season. Lescott is to valuable in the centre to push out wide and does not have the overlapping ability of a dedicated quality left back. Valente is injured far too much. The need another quality creative midfielder is well documented but lets wait on Peinaar and the possibility of another signing. As for forwards we have big Vic, AJ and Vaughn (when fit) as well as
McFadden as back up.
I expect a very competitive Everton this year
