The Mail Bag

No surprises on the cards

In the end the vote will go against the club.... simply put, the fans will not allow themselves to be dragged out of the city, not even by a blue. That will be the cold hard analysis of the post vote... nothing more and nothing less.

The season will go on, the fans will be happy and the Board will remain very quiet for a very long time. Until the AGM!

Also LCC will go quiet and we will realise that they never had any alternatives,or at least none that we can afford!!

Im still hopeful of a ’yes’ vote in the ballot as I believe the people in favour of the move have less need to be so vocal and I think the younger end of our fanbase will want to move! Only my opinion of course, lets wait and see!

Really John? A "no" vote and everyone will go quiet? Think about it.

The first possibility, especially if the "no" majority is very heavy, is that BK and KW will feel that their positions have become untenable. No-one knows quite what happens then, but expect chaos, not quiet.

The next non-quiet thing that will happen is that the "no" voters will finally get to understand what they have voted for - nothing. The LCC will indeed disappear from the scene, Bestway will never be heard of again, and the Loop will return to being a traffic island.

Because the reality will still be the reality: without Tesco and Knowsley (or a rich investor coming in to buy out BK) WE CANNOT AFFORD TO BUILD A NEW STADIUM. Please believe it: it is getting boring to have to repeat this over and over, but it is the plainest truth.

"No" voters please start praying now for a very rich investor to show up soon after the vote. Because otherwise we are sitting in Goodison for the forseeable future with no other clear options (and please don’t make me laugh - or cry - with the idea of financially viable Goodison redevelopment).

I’ve a suspicion that Evertonians won’t actually commit collective suicide and vote "no". They will see that Everton are being offered a financially very attractive deal, and that the fanbase of our great club will not collapse when we move a few miles.

Otherwise, quiet is the last thing we are going to get.

Re credibility of ’enabling partners’, here is Bestway’s Board of Directors: http://www.bestwaygroup.co.uk/default.aspx?id=382962
Do you believe they have the same Evertonian credentials as Sir Terry Leahy??? If this the best that Bradley can come up with does it look good???? What a bad joke...if only!

I think you’re well off the mark John, I’m convinced that it will come back as a big-fat-yes.

If only life could be so easy, John Cribb.

This report in today’s post may make sobering reading for Loop supporters...
