Baines a Red

Comments (8)

We've heard just about everybody including Roy Keane, Chris Hutchings, David Moyes and the player in question, Leighton Baines, describe himself as a lifelong Blue, but doesn't this interview in Four Four Two magazine suggest he may have been telling porkies and is in fact a Red?

If you can't open the link, type his name into Google and its the fourth entry down.

Oh well, makes a change from Liverpool picking up all the top Evertonian players. Shame we had to pay out £6M for the privilege though.

Baines told sky sports tonight - His dad took him to Anfield until he was 14. Then he started going to watch Everton with his cousin when he had a choice.

Didn’t he say all his family supported the Blues? Why would his Dad take him to Analfield then??

Does it really matter who he supported? He’s an Everton player now and that’s all that matters.

The important thing is that he chose us over Sunderland and Newcastle and he’s really excited to be playing for Everton now. That said, to me as a fan, things like this do sometimes affect how I feel about a particular player.

He’s a red? Great. Lets hope he does as well as all the bluenoses that have played for them over the years!

Dave Watson was also a red as a kid but he turned from the dark side!

He says in his interview that all his family are blues, but doesn’t mention himself as a blue.At the end of the day,as long as he does the bizz for us,I couldn’t give a fuck who he supports.

Who cares if he is a red?
It seems this close season we’ve all been getting carried away looking for players to buy who support Everton. Buying quality players who will grow to love the club has got to be our aim.
The best example I can think of is a certain ’FAT MANC’ kissing his badge after scoring against us for the last two seasons.

To be honest I think that interview was taken out of context. It says he was let go by Liverpool academy when he was really let go by our academy.

His dad is a red but all his mums side are Blues. But at the end of the day who cares. He chose us over Newcastle which shows he is not a money grabber and he is also the first choice left back for the under 21s.
