Our voting papers turned up today, for me and the lad (13). "Danny, your voting slip is here, son"

"Thanks Dad, just put me down for a No." "Why son?" "Dunno, but everyone seems to be saying No, so I want to."

"But, son, you should make your own mind up."

"I know but I can't be bothered, in fact Dad, you just vote for me"

"But..."

"I'm off out Dad, see ya later"

Apathy? Can't be arsed about the Blues? Who knows, but I've filled his slip in anyway, and the vote is one Yes and one No, and guess what? We didn't abuse each other, we didn't threaten each other, we never even said that we were abandoning our children (Huh?) or grandchildren come to that. We just respected each other's opinions.

It's a pity some others on this site can't do the same. "Goodnight, son...still love ya... x"
(Love you too Dad xx)

This is a typical Trueblue scenario. Respecting others opinion regarding the Stadium issue should have been present but unfortunately...

just a shame that not everybody sees it like this.

Same here mate, me and the old man look like we’re both on opposite sides of the fence. Im on the no side, hes firmly in the yes camp

He has a strong view why we need to be moving and its rationalised by a business point of view. Where as im sticking with no. Dont agree with him (the yes vote seems to easy!), he dnt agree with me ("using my heart not my head"), but we’ll still be at the game on Sat together, hopefully he’ll even buy me a pint!

That’s not respecting each other’s opinion though, because only one person actually has an opinion. To be perfectly honest "I dunno, everyone seems to be doing it" as a justification for a vote (and I imagine it’s not an isolated incident) is a bit worrying. Because for or against the move surely we want the decision to actually be made based on people genuinely thinking about it and making a considered decision.

The lads only 13, how can children be expected to make a considered opinion on this matter? Most kids will either take the same stance or just do as their parents tell them. With respect, this is a no-brainer that doesnt even warrant discussion.

I received the ballot papers yesterday and had filled mine out with a No.
I went to pick my 13 year old son up as he had been in France for a week with the school.
Told him his ballot paper had arrived and left him to it.
He also voted No and we had not discussed the subject.
When I asked him why he voted No he told me he’d talked about it in school and his red mates (none of whom go to the game were abosolutely delighted we were thinking of moving) so he thought anything which makes them happy can’be right.

Thing is Robin. At the age of 13, it is probalby hard to understand the politics of the move.

Those of us who vote No, are not just voting with our heart?!? As you have read, they have a lot of constructive views as well as passion on this site regarding the move to Kirkby. I won't go into all that has been said but to say a no vote is just from the heart is ridiculous.

There’s no criticism of a 13 year old intended in my comments. But Everton have stated that the vote will be binding, and it’s a vote that has permanent repercussions for all of us. I don’t want that result skewed by large numbers of votes from kids who either can’t or don’t want to spend time examining the arguments, or who effectively give their parents two votes instead of one.
