All the talk of big deals for big players is sadly unlikely to me and I think we all know it. However much we'd like some of them to happen, namely Manny Fernandes, Lucho Gonzalez, Santi Ezquerro (though it appears it's only me who's up for this one!) or even Yakubu, I can't help but feel that the only one that's likely to happen is Danny Szetela from Columbus Crew.

This guy was with us briefly as a 16-year-old and although he has interest from various clubs in England and Italy, he apparently would prefer to come to us mainly cos of the language barrier and the fact he knows the club, likes the place and likes the people. He'll only cost £25k as well so that's got to be within our budget. Supposed to be a decent player too, hence the interest from Roma, Lazio, Galatasaray, Rangers, Boro and us.

One to keep a serious eye on I reckon. If you haven't heard of him by the way, he's a midfielder who can scsore goals and make them so would be a fine addition. PlLus he's only 20 and cheap!

I cant see the point of buying some young Yank, he will end up like Vidarsson not given a chance to shine

Have you actually seen Viddarson? He looks about 13 and is built similarly.

Danny Szetela is far from that, much better developed and more of a rounded player already. Anichebe, Vaughan, Rooney all played as teenagers so why not this guy at 20?

I don’t even want us to touch Fernandes after the crap West Ham got into with Tevez.

Steve, 3rd party ownership is nothing new, the Tevez thing was a one-off, look at Mascherano, his transfer wasn’t a problem and he was part owned as well.

Thing is Allan, Benfica are touting him around at £6million but then you would have to pay £6million to his 3rd party bods as well. So in effect the lad is worth £12million, and his work rate is questionable for that price.

Szetela is already in talks with Roma, also Lazio have asked to speak to him so we best get a move on! He wouldnt have any problems getting a work permit in Italy either although there was a suggestion that hes got a greek dad or something?

The Mascerano transfer wasn’t a problem because it involved the Red Shite - the sun alway shines out of their arses!! Bitter but true. You have only got to look at what Stevie Gerrard got away with the other day. Had it been Rooney, Scholes or our dear old Duncan Ferguson in days of yor, they would have had a straight red card and a ban for the first three games of the season. Dear old Stevie - of course not!!

From what I can gather the fee is £8m plus add-ons at a later date. I reckon he’s worth it though, I felt so much better when he was playing and he IS a class act.

Yeah but at Patty, at least we got to see that Gerrard punches like a 10yr old girl...did you see the reaction from the bloke he hit??....thats right, absolutely no reaction at all!!

Szetela was born in New Jersey to Polish-born parents. Just like Tim Howard -- Hungarian mother -- he has an EU passport.

Interestingly he was a good buddy of Giuseppe Rossi growing up.

I think Szetela would be decent for Everton but not a world-beater. So far luck has been good with Yanks. McBride, Moore, and Howard.

He is not going to to this club. The EPL is beyond him right now and the boy will shine at Roma.
