The first eight fixtures - off to a flyer?

Just had a look at our fixture for August & September. Apart from a tricky away game at Spurs (well, I say tricky but we won it last season) and a tester at home against Man U I reckon we should be looking for a haul of 17 points from these opening games. That would stand us in excellent stead for the rest of the season and give us the kind of opportunity we had when we achieved 4th when the occasional loss didn't dent our momentum too severely
If we have any aspirations to be knocking on the door for fourth place then we should be looking very realistically at going to places like Villa, Bolton & Reading and getting 3 points now. Anything less should be regarded as failure. Of course all of this is dependent on whether we get some striking reinforcement and another creative outlet in midfield to fill the void left by Fernandes. We should not rely solely on Arteta.
