I've voted Yes

It's about time we got real. Nothing has been offered within the city boundary (and since when has Bootle, Halewood or Kirkby not been 'Liverpool'?) The Kirkby deal is excellent - it means we pay VIRTUALLY NOTHING and we establish a major link with one of Britain's most successful enterprises.

There simply isn't an alternative, and nostalgia for the creaking ruin Goodison is likely to become changes nothing.

£50m is not "virtually nothing", Mike, and if you haven't posted that ballot yet, you might want to hold onto it until at least tomorrow (Thursday) when the first details of an alternative at the Tunnel Loop will be made available.

Mike if £50million is nothing to you perhaps you might like to invest in the club also as we are committed to paying any overspend of the budget and tell me when was the last time one came in on budget again this is not nothing it will be substantial With more information coming out in a few days why did you not wait you could still vote yes if you wanted did you read up on the proposal or did you just listen to Kenwright I find it scary that all that’s been wrote you come out with a virtually free stadium ask yourself one question if its so good why is it like pulling teeth getting any answers from the club or is it the Everton way perhaps I hope most people take a more responsible attitude than you have that’s not to say vote NO like me but have a valid reason not a fairy tale on such an important vote

The problem with voting no is it give us no options. If the loop site turns out not to be viable and there’s a no vote what do we do? No investor is going to come rushing in (it would have happened by now) and we’ll end up up the creek without a canoe let alone the paddle.

Voting no is closing off all but one avenue and is very very short sited. Mines already in the post with a big x by the yes box.

Anyone who votes NO does not care about the future of this club. Go ahead and vote NO, bet you were still in Goodison this time in 5/6 years, no new investment, no offers of a joint venture to build a new stadium, and everyone still moaning how we’ve not moved forward.

Its an amazing stadium we’ve been offered. Lets take this club on to the next level.

I vote NO!
Nice shiny booklet we got with the ballot form, but it changes nothing for me. My main reason for saying no is not one of a superb buisness mind, nor is it one of a person with all the facts, but THE thingS eatING away at me stop me from even considering a yes vote:

LIVERPOOL THE ONLY CLUB IN THE CITY. GOODISON BEING MADE INTO A KOPITE CAR PARK. THE HUNDREDS OF JOKES AND INSULTS I’LL HAVE TO PUT UP WITH FROM MY KOPITE CO-WORKERS.

I apologise to the ’big worded’ posters for my shallow wiew, but as a season ticket holder and a voter, its one I am entitled to!

I have to disagree with Lyndon and Roy.

£50m is a very good deal for construction of a brand new stadium that will be worth over 3 times that amount when it is done.

Further, the club have said that most of the outlay will be generated by the sale of Goodison and naming rights for the new ground. Anything over that will have to be raised by taking on an additional debt. That is the real outlay here isn’t it? KW has said that additional debt could be as little as £10m secured against the new stadium.

Lee Spargo: pot on lad.

Its like taking out a selling your existing house for 150k (goodison), having your in laws give you 150k towards it (naming rights!) and taking out a mortgage of 200k and getting back a 1.5m house. exactly the same!!!

Keith has just made a statement on the OS about the ’loop’ proposal. Think he’s right lads, whoever thought that one up must be desperate...a stadium would nt even fit on that land, no parking, no retail space. It would be a squeeze.

FACTS
1. 2nd Rate Stadium and we havent even seen the CAD drawings yet
2. Only 30 odd boxes (you need 50+ to hold big events)
3. An unconfirmed financial input from Everton. £50m It’ll be closer to £100m with overspend. BUT the club wont tell you this and it may change your mind.
4. No statement on transport, exept the shite the echo are telling about the Tram, ha ha..
5. We wont fully own the stadium and I doubt we’ll be able to sell it and walk off with all the cash, so who really gives a rats arse what its worth.
6. Its outside the City

If we move to Kirkby, I bet you 2 years after, there will be statements of "I told you so".

Ridiculous move, it should never even have been considered

Just read Keith Wyness’ letter on the official site, very well put and I hope it makes a few of the ’no’ voters have a change of heart!

Wyness comments come across as somebody panicking that this "proposal" may be changing some of the voters. Instead of slating the Loop, why doesnt Wyness come out and answer some of his questions for the Kirkby move, ie Transport, debt, funding etc.
Unprofessional rubbish, it sounds like one of my mates sounding off in the pub. We’ll be down to name calling next

Keith Wyness has already told us about debt and funding etc. There’s a 10 minute video feed on everton tv. Everyone keeps saying we’ve been told nothing. First of all we’ve been told quite a lot and secondly we’ve been granted a binding vote. We should never have been granted this. The board should have made their own minds up. Say what you like about them but this was a very decent motion on their behalf.

The senior PR man representing Bestways at St.George’s Hall last week told me that Bill Kenwright has been in discussions with Bestways for the past 3 months. This does not square with the line being peddled by Wyness this morning. If what the PR man said is true, then I imagine Tesco and KBC would not be happy that such contact was taking place with another suitor during the period of exclusivity. Nevertheless, I cannot imagine why the PR man would lie. What is in it for him? So if he wasn’t telling lies, perhaps he was mistaken or......

Kenwright isn’t that stupid! If he’d used the Board’s executive authority and just said we’re going there’d have been football’s equivalent of a rebellion. As it is, he’s provoked the first civil war in Lpool since 1892.

all the KEIOC mob do is say "Wyness has told us nothing". Maybe if they got off their arses and actually got on the EFC website and various other sites (like this one) and READ what the deal with Tescos and kirkby is, they would know what he has said.

The fact is, what the KEIOC are really saying is "Wyness has told us nothing THAT WE WANT TO HEAR".

A very bad case of selective hearing if ever there was one.

YES from me, I have heard enough debate. Can’t wait for Saturday!

Please remind Mr Wyness that "the deal of the century" was when the Kings Dock was within our grasp; a true state of the art modern stadium right in the heart of our city. This was indeed a fitting new home for the Premier football club in the city, and one which was the envy of our Norwegian cousins. Kenwright also told us at the time that the 30 million quid we had to stump up as our contribution was "ringfenced". The deadline for us to make our contribution was extended, and yet the club still failed to deliver.I look forward to the day when we make our first appeareance in Kikby (by then Greater Liverpool, according to My Wyness) in 2046.

Steve L - "The problem with voting no is it give us no options."

The problem with voting yes is that it means we will never know! You people all have brains...you support Evertonn for Christ’s sake! Voting no will force Bill and Wyness to look at alternatives...

Jimmy - "a stadium would nt even fit on that land, no parking, no retail space. It would be a squeeze."

Stadia would fit on the site... http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1255/1059952469_fbc5a4ba22_b.jpg

Lee spargo how you doin mate been a long time. spot on post BTW

Dont tell any one but plans B to Z are all going to be debt free arn’t they?

I envisage some amount of debt will be levied against any new stadium where ever it is situated thats the way of the game now isnt it, yet more scaremongering from the NO’s, were in debt now, will be in debt wherever we move and are likely to be in debt until the suggar daddy comes along with the pot of free money

The club feel that the debt attached to the kirkby project will be managable

Any news on the bestway design? anyone seen bullys open letter on the offical site, in the intrests of balence will it be posted here?

My blue bretheren please allow me the opportunity to explain. I was approached by Everton some 2 years ago to work in a capacity as an advisor to the Club. It was hoped that my experience in industry would serve to create new opportunities for the Club, and with my allegiance and affinity to Everton we would seek and explore new avenues relating to the proposal for a new stadium. With our partners we have created a very real and exciting future for Everton with the Kirkby project, please examine the details of the proposal and compare to the pie in the sky suggestions being offered by Liverpool City Council and Bestway. The Kirkby project is deliverable, if you want another King’s dock fiasco then vote ’No’.

Sir Terry Leahy;

The problem IS with your proposals and invormation coming from the club.

When you talk of pie in the sky, that is all you have promised us.
A set of figures that do not add up.
A second rate stadium that Tesco can claim it is not their fault because it is Evertons responsibility to furnish.

A claim that this will bring more corporate money in(maybe on matchdays). What all clubs need is corporate money Monday to Friday not to mention the weddings and birthday partys.

Who on earth in the so called catchment area of 4.5 million are going to travel to Kirkby for these events when you will have two new stadiums in Liverpool.I include the new venue we would have loved to vacate. Not to mention the hotel and transport links.

You maybe a giant in the retail trade but in the sporting buisness you are as naive as many of us elsewere.

Maybe if there were plans for you to retire and bcome Evertons Chairman or head a consortium that would hold more sway. But as I said earlier the plans we are being offered are as much pie in the sky as the other proposals you love to quote.

The club have given estimates of the stadium cost, estimates of the debt incurred. You people keep saying they have not provided any details need to just stop. You worry about the cost increasing from 50 Million, but how much would it cost for us to build the stadium with no assistance from Tesco and Knowsley. LCC have already stated they will not provide this assistance, so we would have to pay for the entire stadium and the land, which would be much more than 50 Million or 100 Million as some people are worried about us ending up paying. Nobody can give a firm price as to what things will cost because none of us can see into the future. But what we do know is that Knowsley and Tesco are helping with the costs and providing the ground for the stadium. Wake up people, you talk about us being laughed at by the Shite, how much do you think they’ll laugh if we stuck a stadium snuggly into the "Loop" site. A stadium would not work there, it’s too small, Goodison wouldn’t even fit there. And you worry about traffic going into Kirkby????
