European update

Comments (2)

I know everyone is concentrating on the Stadium debate and the start of the season, but with the Champions League 2nd round qualifying finishing last night, it may be a good time to have a look at where we currently stad in terms of the seedings for the UEFA Cup.

We certainly got a good result when Tampere United from Finland knocked out Levski Sofia to take away another team who would have been seeded above us.

Basically, the situation is that if all the teams who are expected to progress do so (i.e. those with the higher UEFA Co-efficients), then Everton will be the 35th seeds in the first round of the UEFA Cup.

The best position we can obtain is 24th place, whilst the absolute worst place we can finish is 45th.

Would 45th mean we’d just missed out on seeding or did it go down to 48 places?
