Go Global?!?

Is this more propaganda ahead of the Kirkby move?
Manny Fernandes to sign today? (!)
"Awash with new money from Kenwright's allies and backers, Everton want a quick result - and super agent Pini Zahavi, a major player in the deal, is jetting in from Israel to conclude talks.
Boss David Moyes has hit the jackpot after his chairman was told to 'go global' by financial sidekicks.
Kenwright now has Planet Hollywood billionaire Robert Earl on board among other wealthy fans who want to see Everton take off."

Fernandes to be done today? Rich backers telling BK and DM to go Global? It's to good to be true isn't it?

It's was a great PR spin making £10m bids for both these players. We got a mention in almost every paper yesterday. We got a mention on Sky Sports News all day and every 15 minutes yesterday. It's more of the same today. Nice one BK. You got those poor cunts in the PR Department working overtime. I always knew you where good for something. You don't fool me. Like Irvine said: 'I'll believe it when it happens.' If it does then i'll eat my words.
Now that everyone has recieved the Ballot papers, we're suddenly making all these 10mill bids for players we have little chance of signing. Interesting...

So Kenwright now owns the Mirror and controls what they print? You people will just never stop will you. Fact, Earl joined the board. Fact, Earl has a lot of money. Perhaps this is a case of a writer putting two and two together. Get over your conspiracies, they are just pathetic.

"EVERTON plan to buy ace midfielder Manuel Fernandes in a shock £11million deal today - in a move that will cause a major headache for the Premier League."
I dont know what to make of this. Personally I think all this bidding 10m for Yakubu is a smokescreen (Owen and Kuyt anyone?), but who knows. Or if it is true, surely gambling and using next year's potential Sky Money?

Quit with the conspiracy theories.
How the hell would it influence peoples opinion on a subject so emotive as the stadium vote?
I’ve already made my mind up, and it had nothing to do with who we have signed or who we are being linked with in the press. I dont beleive for one second that anybody would vote yes to the new ground solely because we’re being linked with a couple of big-money transfers. In fact, the effect should be quite the opposite. After all, if we can afford to spend another £19m this summer, why would we need the Tesco deal?
I’m voting yes regardless.

The cynic in me wonders why all this is being said a few days after the distribution of ballot papers.
The indignant in me is raging that such a flush outfit are attempting to foist a stadium on us that at best estimate is to cost £1,500 per seat (compared to the present going rate of £4,000+ per seat that others are spending) and is located in Kirkby.

I am as excited that we are being linked with some big money moves for players of genuine quality, but I can't help wondering "where's the money come from and why now?"
Surely it couldn't be linked to the ground move vote could it as a means of creating that all important feel good factor? It may not be the case, but I have a horrible feeling that the money has been there all along and the timing of this is designed to manipulate us punters towards voting yes. I could be wrong, but how else do you explain this sudden transfer activity?

I’m sure it is a case of journalists putting two and two together and then all their mates jumping on the bandwagon for a story.
BBC news put up a story that Yakubu had asked for a move, which I’m sure they’d just made up what with the apparent Everton interest, they then had to retract the story due to it not being true.

I cannot for the life of me see how Yakubu is worth £4M more than Nugent. Would Moyes, who wouldn't pay £6M for Nugent, really cough up £10M for someone who is generally considered a lazy player? We all know the one thing Moyes looks for in a player is there work-rate! I really can't see this as being a realistic bid??

According to Keith Lamb in the last few minutes on Sky Sports News, we haven't made a bid for Yakubu anyway. Boro deny any bid has been received from Everton and tha Yakubu is definately not for sale anyway. Looks a bit of a dead duck sadly.

Alas, we live in a world of media spin.
If there’s no news, they just make it up. It would appear it’s Downing’s turn today.

Just heard on Sky Sports that a Middlesbrough spokesman has said, `The truth is there has been no bid from Everton and Yakubu will remain a Borough player`. Looks like Uncle Bill is up to his old tricks-but why is Moyes so complicit?
How are we supposed to put our trust in anything that comes out of Goodison these days?

PR exercise ? What a load of nonsense.
Who would change their vote to ’yes’ on the back of a bid for a player ? Really ?
More verbal diarrhoea from the conspiracy theory spinning cynics.
Anyone else tired of it yet ?

Nobody will change their mind over a couple of bids for players,we have either always had this cash and were just biding our time or this Robert Earl fella has been put on the board so he hands over some cash! As for the rumours of Manny and Yakubu,I dont think they would have gathered this much pace should they just be complete rubbish, and how often to we here CEO’s sayin there has been no bids and then the next day they have sodded off?

Arthur Hooke Yakubu is worth more than Nugent because he is a better player. He is stronger, quicker and scores more goals. Yakubu has scored goals wherever he has played and the teams he have played for have been very average. Bob Latchford was a lazy player but he was still very useful so I dont think that would be a problem. If anyone is going to improve his workrate it is David Moyes. Look at Arteta when he fist came to england he was pretty lazy and now he works as hard as anyone.
I believe that we are interested in Yakubu aswell as Fernandes. If we where not It would not have appeared in the Echo.

Just read this about Yakubu, Southgate says Boro did have contact from Everton about the lad.

Mal,
These comments are really starting to hack me off. Did this come out of GP? NO! or Smith, or Nugent, or any of the others. The only stories about bids that have come out of GP is Baines, Pinaar, Vogel, and Jags. Three of which have come off.
Stop blaming GP for your own gulability.

What will Kirkby residents think if Everton are crying poverty on the one hand and splashing the cash on the other, whilst their council ’give’ EFC 50million smackers albeit not in cash.

Kirkby residents should be grateful to the council,Tesco and Everton Because when its all finished it will put them on the map! In fact it probably has already, how often does Kirkby get this type of publicity!

Hey Connor - With you on this one because Yakubu always seems to score against us when he plays. Its a case of "buy your enemies!!"
Of the two, I would prefer Manny and am keeping my fingers crossed on that one.. loved the guy’s style when he played at GP last year.
Lets give the boys a rousing welcome tomorrow come 3 o’clock.
