Voting Process

Comments (4)

I've already brought this up as a sub comment, but it will be better noticed here. All members of Evertonia, as well as season ticket holders, are allocated a vote on the stadium move. Many away supporters, including followers of Man Utd and L'Pool, have become members of Evertonia in order to gain an advantage when applying for tickets,to see their team at Goodison Park.

It would be a travesty for non-Evertonians to gain a vote, on something which does not concern them, whilst Blues without season tickets, have no say on the subject. Ulterior motives of our red 'brothers' also sets the alarm bells ringing. It has already been suggested that such members have already recieved their voting forms.

Surely the club shoud be made aware of this immediately, and the ballot should be null and void, with Evertonia members not being given a vote, as genuine Evertonia members may have a vote already as season ticket holders, whilst simply being a member of Evertonia, should not be a qualification for voting.

The voting process seems shoddy, with some getting two ballots. This cannot be considered a truly representative vote, for the voice of the Evertonian masses, and the board should act now!

I think in trying to be as inclusive as possible, the Board have opened themselves up to a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.

How can you criticise the club for allowing members of the official supporters club to vote?

What should they have done, asked you to set up the ballot?

I get the feeling that the Club would have been criticised whatever they had done.

well if the everton masses wanted to vote, they should have put their hand in their pocket and joined Evertonia then - too late to moan now

Have you ever been compelled to join Man Utd’s supporters club? Why the heck would ’many’ away fans pay there hard earned money into an Everton supporters club? Where is your evidence? This is beginning to get tiresome.

All these consipiracy theories about the vote are pointless - its a fair and democractic vote (and its lucky we’ve even got one at all). Some have suggested that EFC shouldn’t give the vote to Wirralites etc as they may be inclined to vote one way. Rediculous! Its a bit like saying that Gordon Brown won’t be giving the vote to the blue rince brigade in Surrey because he knows he hasn’t got a cat in hells chance of winning there.

All of us should calm down, the results of the vote will be the end of this - fair and square. The Electoral Reform Soc liaise with the national government on general elections - they’re not gonna be involved in any conspiracy with the EFC board! They say they’ve rectified any mistakes so I believe them. Just make your mark and send it in the post.

I agree partly with the original message. Not with the part about LFC and scum fans joining, that is just being riduculous as even for these games tickets usually end up on general sale so why would ’away fans’ pay for Evertonia membership when you can buy a ticlket for the same price? Stupid.

However I agree that the club has pissed all over the fans who walk to the stadium and buy tickets for each game (i.e. local fans), at the expense of Evertonia members who may only go to two or three games a season. Why?

Well that is obvious as Evertonia members are MORE LIKELY to live outside the city, and support the move to Kirkby. Probably 80-90% of walk-up fans are against the move and Kenwright knows this so he has shut them out.
A big mistake as lots of these are the lifeblood fans of the club who turn up rain or shine, they are the ones who help create the atmosphere (when it suits), and they will I suspect be the majority making all the anti-kirkby noise on Saturday.

Any middle-class types who want gleaming pissers and horse-shit free streets, you may not care for Goodison, but many LOVE the place and you would do well not to forget these fans the way the club has spurned them. These fans make the club what it is and you would be watching the equivalent of a Tim Henman match without them.

VOTE NO.
