The big kick off!

We need a striker (or two!) so that we have 5 that we can call on. Vic and AJ will start tomorrow but we need to get some cover and quick. The only problem is that everyone can see we need a striker and that may inflate the price even more!!

On the subject of midfield, we are Manny away from one of the best midfields in the league. Arteta, Fernandes, Cahill and Jagielka/Neville would put the shits up most if not all teams in the Prem. Theres lots of hard work coupled with skill and creativity.

Put that with a back four of Neville, Yobo, Lescott, Baines with Howard in goal. Then AJ + Vaughn/ANOTHER and we have a starting 11 that is capable of regular performances of quality and effective football.

I am not naieve enough to believe that we could finish in the top 2 or even win it but I do believe that that if you could play everyones best starting 11 all season then our team would be good enough. Obviously, due to injury/suspension it will not be possible to sustain that fight. The next job for Moyes is to build the rest of the squad around what he has so far.

So far so good and I would be happy with a top 6 finish and a Pot of some kind. COYB!!

We’re on the UP...I can feel it in me bones! TW editors, as mentioned earliker, plus other prophets of doom: Cheer up, it could all happen against your predictions and work out for the best! Perfection is rare in the human condition, but the Moyesiah and EFC board are on the cusp of greatness. We fans just need confidence and belief and allow our passions to spur the team onto victory! Yes we?ve been largely poor since the 80?s but forget Pavlov?s dogs, it?s time for the Evertonian beast to rise and conquer! COYB

Just leave Tony, honestly. You talk more shit about Everton than any Red Shite I have met. If we were as bad as you insist we are we wouldn’t have taken 4 points off the shite and Arsenal last season, qualified for Europe 2 out of the last 3 years, and have players like Cahill and Arteta signing contract extensions just weeks ago, not to mention getting a player like Baines coming here when he had more options. Why are you so miserable?

I’m with you on this Paul. Not the influx of players we would have hoped for but some new quality in and none of the existing out.

No David, you’ve done the wrong thing there, you’ve shown the club in a positive light, you’ve highlighted all the good things we’ve done over the past couple of seasons. Oh no!!! He won’t like that, that’s not what a REAL Everton supporter does.

You’re right Steve, what was I thinking, I actually said good things about Everton. I forgot that the way you support something is by only finding faults and speaking badly.

Hey hey, this is more like it, a positive revolution on Toffee Web!
Maybe we should stage a coup? Or at least a sit in! "Hell no we won’t moan!"

All together now...
"We’re going into Europe
We’re going to finish top 6
We’ve got a decent team here
We’re going to do damned well!"

And now you’re gonna believe Moyes, and now you’re gonna believe Moyes, and now you’re gonna believe Moyes, we’re going to do damned well!"

Errr, sorry, got a bit carried away with the moment there. Can’t fucking wait till tomorrow!!!!! COYB!

I think you have to draw a distinction between the team / David Moyes who do a great job and continually seek to improve and grind out great results.....and the fellas that run the club, Mssrs Wyness and Kenwright etc who stumble from one cock-up to the next and act like buisness novices day in, day out. Stadium debacle aside, I wonder what a guy like Terry Leahy makes of it all.

Terry Leahy will probably be looking at the arse falling out of the stock market and wondering what his share options are now worth

True! But when Wyness leaves us (very shortly I imagine), I doubt Terry will be offering him a job on the Tesco board. Wyness is third rate at best in my book. But of course with a first rate salary.

LOL. A great positive post to start with which I totally agree with and was therefore shocked to see it on Toffeeweb.

Then somehow in true whinge-a-while style it turns into a thread attacking the club. Normal service resumed.

Paul I like your optimism, but with our very small squad, and already we have lost Cahill & Vaughan for some time, what happens when the African Cup kicks off? we lose Yobo, Anichebe, and the new lad Steve Pinnear, for two months.
The squad is way to small, and any added injuries will do us no favours.

oh come on guys, let’s get behind the players on the pitch today. Let’s at least start the season with some optimisim, otherwise we are going to be suicidal by Christmas! Yes, we are going to lose some key players in January but so are some other teams, yes we are still light on numbers but let’s not give up hope before the bloody season gets underway.
I’m not DM’s biggest fan but I am a supporter of Everton FC and I will argue tactics ’til the cows come home and whine like a banshee when we play rubbish but as long as when the lads run onto the pitch, we’re all behind them with the Goodison Roar then we can leave all the negativity on these pages!
