Extra income for Everton

Comments (5)

It occurred to me yesterday leaving Goodison Park that it's such a lost opportunity from Evertons point of view, that there is nothing to keep fans back after the game. 40,000 leave at once. Surely they could open the bars again, show edited highlights of the major incidents from the clubs video footag, (that they show during the match on the big screen so surely no problem re-running them??) even show the 5:15 pm game (even if it's Liverpool playing ? it's still Premier League footy!)

I saw a lot of fans making it back to surrounding pubs in Walton and in the city centre. Can't help feeling if only a quarter of those at the game stayed and spent a tenner on drinks or food thats £100k per home game, £1.9M per season plus cup games. Plus it would make the bottleneck around the ground less of an issue as people would drift away a bit more slowly than all at once.

That extra income will be ours if we move to kirby.

I’d say it’s the police who decide the bars close after half time, rather than the club..

If they?re still going to insist on charging £3-ish for a plastic cup of pissy, watered-down Chang, I can?t see Everton making an awful lot of after-match money in their present location- particularly with the wealth of decent boozers around County Rd etc.

As Gavin said, it?ll probably be more viable to do in Kirkby, and only if the price for the ale is acceptable.

Have been to Old Trafford with friends and they have a fancy tent like structure in a car park set up serving food and beer before and after games. Loads of televisions too that show other sports like rugby that are often on on a Saturday. It was a tenner in, with the one ticket covering before and after the game, and then whatever you paid for your food and beer after that. Great for build-up before the game and great for waiting until the crowds had dispersed from the public transport stops after the game. It seems to be a simple idea done properly that could generate a lot of cash.

Kieran, sometimes it’s the simple and trivial things done badly (in this case not at all!) that tells you all you need to know about who is running the business side of this club. I mean, If we can’t trust the club to maximise beer and pie sales, not to mention shirt sales by having them farmed off to JJB who don’t give a fuck then why trust them with anything more serious?
