The Mail Bag

Beattie

I know it's all far too late and the lad has left us but I just thought I'd congratulate him on his return to the goals on Saturday.

Now while you might all say "it's the Championship" I believe that he's finally got the service he requires. With Gillespie wide, he will now get plenty of service and I think he will score 20 goals this season.

So, although some may be happy to see him gone, I will remain dissapointed that he never got the proper service he requires (crosses from wide) to become a legendary Number 9 at Goodison.

Good luck Beats.

I would like to close though with a BIG come on you Blues, let's find someone to take the great shirt and supply him with the bullets to make us great too!!

I would wish Beattie luck also..Although it never happened for him last season he never sulked and kicked up a stink in the media..When he first signed for Everton alot was made of his character and that he could be a problem to the dressing room..It worked the complete opposite and apparently he was smashing and always doing help for charities..I for one was really excited when we signed him as I thought he would bring the goals he scored at Southampton here to Goodison but it didnt happen..I will remember him for the 11 goals he got in the 2005/06 season and for his winner against Arsenal..It looked like we could have had a player but injuries and poor form let him and us down..Good luck Beatts and hope to see you next season.

Talking of number nines I am certain if we sign Yakubu he will be given the jersey..I expect we are waiting for that one big striker signing like last year..One point I have to make here though, can anyone work out why on earth Tim Howard was not handed the Number 1 shirt this season?. It truly baffles me especially now we have signed him long term.. This season there is no number 1, no number 9, no number 10 and Van Der Meyde is number 7 and we are hardly going to see him are we?. Strange choices
