Season Ticket Holders not getting a Vote

Comments (10)

Have any other season ticket holders not recieved a ballot pack as yet? My dad and I have had a season ticket for the last 12 years, live at the same address and have no problem getting a renewal form for our tickets each year. However, only one ballot pack turned up. When I rang Everton today to ask why, I was told that, as we have two tickets at the same address under one Client reference number, as allocated by Everton when they stopped sending individual renewals, that only one ballot paper goes to each Client Reference. When asked why, as obviously I'm not using two season tickets myself, I was told (after the girl consulted her manager) that this was the way they had decded to do the ballot. I asked what would happen if I had bought season tickets for all my family (there are five of us that have them), the answer was.... one ballot paper for one client reference number. I've checked with the other three, and they have the same situation, one voting paper turned up.

Is it me, or have they lost the plot over ticketing type issues again?! Does anyone have an e.mail address for the king of communication, Ian Ross, or has this happened to anyone else? So much for a fair and honest vote. I can't believe we are the only two people who live at the same address with one Client Reference!

I think they made it clear that what has happened in your case is the way the franchise has been determined. It doesn't really make much sense, I agree. If a family of Everton season-ticket holders has different names and addresses, they each get to vote. If they live at the same address, or the father-figure (oops...PC alert!) buys all the tickets in his name, then only he gets to vote? Doesn't seem right to me...

And the e.mail address you seek is Ian.Ross@EvertonFC.com.

Electoral reform society - piss-up and brewery come to mind. Sounds like the sort of dodgy facade Tony Blair/labour would use to change the election make-up and swing votes in their favour!

To be fair, whilst I don’t agree with it, I don’t think you can say that it’s a shady ploy by Everton to get their way in the vote.

I doubt they’ve done extensive research to suggest that evertonians that live together are more likely to vote ’no’...

Can you not ask them to allocate you a separate client reference no.? I had this problem last season with mine and my son’s ticket (when I paid jointly) but I asked for it to be resolved so that we could each be credited with away match tickets. It was sorted out fairly quickly.

Thanks Ray, I’ll try that tomorrow. Shame the girl at Everton didnt think of that while I was on the phone to her!

They said they were doing it that way from the beginning! As for it being a ploy to swing the vote, well they could just as easily missed out on an extra 4 yes votes as no in this case!

Forgot to mention, Rob. I think I actually had to take my son’s ticket back in for them to give him a unique client reference no.

A bit inconvenient, maybe?

Yep, same thing happened to me but when I eventually got through to EFC on the phone I was told that they werent allowed to discuss ballot questions and gave me the Electoral reform number. I then spoke to someone who just took my details and said that they would fax this to EFC, blah blah....by this time I was on the verge of hysteria so await with interest for any sign of ballot paper. Am I correct in thinking that ’one man one vote’ lies at the foundation of democracy? Why wasnt I told when getting my season ticket that someone would be denied a vote depending on who’s name was on the credit card. I can live with crap football, I can live with a bad back and dodgy eyesight but no one should trifle with my legitimate right to vote on this issue. PSYCHO NAN will be back!

I’ve been done with the same issue. Contacted EFC, thay weren’t interested but did give me the number of ERS. Contacted ERS last week and am still waiting for them to get back to me. Surely giving them 2 weeks notice before the voting deadline is enough time to sort this out.

Called back to the box office today who said all they can do is cancel the two season tickets (if I go down there with them) and reissue them on seperate client reference numbers. Even then all thy can do is give me a number to get in touch with the ERS and see what they can do. As there are now 9 days till the close of the ballot, I’m not holding out much hope. I see some people got two ballot slips according to how many catagories they fell into. I cant even get one. And Everton wonder where they get the bad name from on the administrative side. The most important decision in My lifetime and they cant even make sure that everyone is involved in it, like they promised.
