New signings - rumours

Comments (5)

I know we definitely need some much-needed depth but a bit worried about some rumours. I just heard from a SWFC mate of mine who says that Chris Brunt is great one game then you don't hear of him the next. As an Owls fan, he'd take the £3 million. I told him that Andy van der Meyde was world class and we should do a swap deal. Spread the word. I'm not sure about Yakubu for any more than £8 million either (Africa Nations Cup and all that). Looking forward to getting Fernandes back, though, so hope it happens.

WBA have had a bid accepted for Brunt.

That had to be a complete load of shit anyway surely?

If rumours are to be believed then they have already accepted a bid from west brom so we’d best be quick! As for what your mate said,I have a few Preston fan mates and they were sayin the same thing about Nugent and everyone kicked off when we didnt get him!

Personally for £3m I’d be content with a somewhat inconsistent winger who we could throw on off the bench to run at a tired opposition. I’d always trust Moyes’ assessment of players from the lower leagues. After all, we tried consistency with VDM... perhaps not the right kind but no doubting he IS consistent.

John, personally, I think one inconsistent winger is enough (plus he was a damn sight cheaper)-thankyou very much.

Mike, I share reservations about Yakubu aswell, but for different reasons. Apart from scoring(I know, I know that’s what a striker is expected to do, duh!) his all round game seems poor and I seriously doubt he is 24(unless he has got that terrible Ashton and Robben ageing syndrome). If we really have the reported amount of money (10-11 millionish) to spend on a striker why not go for somebody (genuinely!) younger....somebody like Vagner Love....now where’s my medication.

Before I get to worrying about Phil Neville, does anyone know if the Manuel Fernandes deal is done yet? The silence today is deafening...
