Leon Osman - an aplogy

Comments (26)

Last Friday I wrote of my apprehension as to our midfield naming Neville, Carsley & Leon Osman as not good enough. I was very very wrong, especially with Leon. I'm very sorry! They all played their part tonight but Leon was fucking superb!

Two goals to the good at half time, leading 3 goals to 1 at White Hart Lane. Are you watching Tony Marsh?!

Well done for admitting your mistake. I’ll also say that I was wrong in saying Moyes picked that team against Wigan because he was going to rotate the squad for today. Fuck the rotation, they destroyed Spurs!!!

After all the talk about transfers and stadia what a superb result for the boys at Spurs!!!!! Admittedly Spurs were awful at times but let's make no mistake, this Tottenham team have shear attacking quality up front which showed here and there and for us to come away with such an emphatic win is awesome!

At one point I even found myself saying to get Os and Stubbsy off but they both worked so hard! Just want to finally say how hard AJ worked tonight because he ran his bollocks off and they shit themselves everytime he got the ball!

Spurs weren’t awful at all, they played pretty well in the first half.

And Victor greatly improved as the game went on, thought Zakora was going to fall to the ground and start stomping his feet and crying. Victor got tired, but really got some confidence going it seemed. Look out Reading!!

No one has the time or the will to go searching for posts of mine, but I’ve been praising Osman ever since he got in the squad. Everyone has their favourite player and Leon’s mine. I genuinely think his first touch is as good as, if not better than, Zinedine Zidane. He’s not that quick but that first touch always buys him time. His finishing isn’t always good, especially from the edge of the box, but he sorts his feet out quickly and always seems to finish well from close-range. He’s quite skillful too. I was disappointed in him toward the end of last season, he went over so easily. I think playing him on the wing did him no favours. On the wing, there’s not much room to manoeuvre. When a defender’s facing you, he knows you only have one passing option and that’s to the inside. That’s why it’s easier to defend on the wing (don’t ask me how Mikky rapes people on the wings, he’s just kwality) than it is in the centre when your opposing player has options left and right to pass to. There’s more time for Osman in the centre and he relishes it. At the Bremen game, he looked so much stronger and determined than ever before. His feet were a lot faster and, as we saw tonight with his little pass in to AJ for AJ’s left-footed shot (saved by Robinson), he’s still got a great little brain. I just wish he’d have shot a few more times when in decent positions but I can’t complain, Everton look so dangerous going forward. Imagine another predatory striker and then Manny in the centre, making sure we keep possession. Dreamland.

First touch better than Zidane? Perhaps the scoreline has gone to your head my friend.

That said Osman appears to have gotten his act together from what I can tell in pre season and these last two games, credit where it’s due he’s done very well and deserves to keep his place.

If he keeps scoring, makes it very difficult to leave him out! Maybe we can try Osman AND Pienaar for the next home game, go on let your hair down Mr Moyes!

Osman’s best ever game. Maybe Ossie knows Fernandes will soon be joining and is worried about the competition?

Good man Mark! Your right, the lads were brilliant tonight.

There’s no questioning Ozzies ability, the question marks have usually been in relation to his stature but the way he’s got going this season has meant it hasn’t really been a factor. Maybe the increase in the quality of the squad has helped him and the others up their game to ensure they keep their places.

David B - thats good news about Fernandes, i was just about to check to see if he played tonight. Fingers crossed he’s off signing an Everton contract.

Great start to the season, long may it continue!

I must admit I thought Moyes had made a mistake by not going 4-5-1 and dropping Anichebe for eithe Pienear ot Jagielka. I was proved wrong, but anyone else think Anichebe was a bit lazy?

Osman is playing out of his skin and I have never been a big fan of his. If he keeps this up I will be very pleased because I want to see a consistent Osman just like Arteta is!! As for new signings, well they will all get plenty of games because I reckon we will play more games this year than we have done for a very long time!!

stadium and transfers, pah! lets watch some great football!

AJ was brilliant, worked twice as hard as Anichebe who should pick his feet up and do some of the work for him! Arteta was great as well, the ’talented’ spurs players couldn’t get near him when he had the ball!

What the fuck you on about Marsh. You’re trying to say you have been proven right? Just two days ago you said that Moyes team selection was pathetic and unambitious. Here is your quote:
"Throw all the money you like at Moyes and let him sign who ever he wants it wont make a blind bit of difference.Moyes is a good at sending teams out not to get beat.Thats it.He is tactically inept"
You said last week that Osman is as deadwood as they come. Now he’s come out and scored 2 goals in 2 games. Only you could come on here and be embarassed by Evertonians being excited that their team just crushed Spurs in London. Damn right I said watch out Reading, it was said in a joking manner, but absolutely Reading will have their hands full against us.

You are as pathetic as they come Tony, you really are. We win by playing committed, hard nosed football, mixing in the quality that is in our side. You have been arguing against me all season, telling me that the side is crap and lacks the quality needed. Now you’re trying to tell us that you were right all along. You’re a joke Tony, you should know that by the overwhelming response against you in your latest article. Nobody takes you serious Tony. All summer you have done nothing but run down the team that we have and run down the manager. You call him inept evey chance you get, ignoring the fact that he has gotten us from being relegation fighters to qualifying for Europe 2 out of the last 3 season, and built a squad that can compete with anyone in the league, as was proven last year by taking 4 points off the shite, and 4 points off Arsenal and giving Chelsea all they could handle. He has now beaten Spurs in London 2 straight years, a place where before that we had not won in 21 years.

And one more thing Tony, for most of us, getting laid puts us in a good mood. Therefore, since you have a problem that I was in a good mood, why would I need to get laid?????

Ossie has truly matured this season. Congrats to him. I think he’s learnt a few tricks to play with very good composure. Must the influence of the Great One:Mikel Arteta!

Saucer of milk to Tony Marsh!

Does he have to find something to moan about on every thread? Is he doing this for charity?

I too thought Osman should be squeezed out this season and spend more time warming the bench but the boy has proved his worth. (Again) Competition for places must really gee him on

Tony Marsh, even when he’s happy, trying to be light hearted and joking around, he still seems like a bit of a twat.

All of you who slagged off Osman before the season kicked off should have your tails between your legs now.

At least Mark had the balls to apologise.

Ossie is on no ones first eleven. Even players that are not here yet takes the place of him. I’ll tell you what he has shown all along you don’t have to be a big man to play this game but a have big heart. Ossie is awesome.
