There's more of us than you

The other day on Talksport, Andy Townsend asked Mike Parry, with that curl of the lip so beloved of the media when talking about Everton, how many of our team would get in Liverpoool's.

On tonight's evidence. the answer is: Howard, Lescott, Osman, Arteta and Johnson as certainties, with Yobo there or thereabouts. Carsley didn't exactly let himself down either. And we've still got Timmy to come back, plus James Vaughan, who'll be a real star by the end of this season. And that's without even mentioning Manny.

Perhaps tomorrow, someone will ask how many Liverpool players would get in our team?

You see now, that really spoils the celebration of a fine victory for me. Our boys do us proud tonight and you worry about who might get into the Liverpool team?!? What sort of "small club" mentality is that? Who gives a flying fuck?

If we ever want to be considered a top side again we have got to get over the obsession with comparison between the red shite. What the fuck do we care!!! The only time we should be discussing thier team is in the days leading to the Derby, that’s it. For the time being, anytime you talk to a red shite, just ask them how many points did they get off us last season and walk away holding up the 3-0 hand signal.

One day people will realise that football is played by teams not players. How many Everton players would get into Liverpool’s team? Who knows but you can guarantee they’d look different in there. Everton’s success isn’t built on the talents of individuals it’s built on being a wholly united team.
