The Mail Bag

Great result and performance

The result and TEAM performance last night at Spurs was as good as any given by the Blues in recent seasons. From Tim Howard at the back to AJ & young Vic up front, every player ran their socks off, the spirit of the side showed itself.

Watching the game on Sky, I was surprised we bothered to show up, as the so-called pundits(Andy Gray included) talked about what Spurs were and weren't going to do to us. But Mikel Arteta had other ideas, and his brilliant dead ball skills started to undo Spurs. A great team performance, and the spirit of the side shone thru. Just keep it up boys.

I have to say, (i know it’s very early days and all) that Everton were sublime last night. It was a tremedous performance, I can’t remember bouncing around my house last night in the euphoria of battering the spuds. A totally unexpected result, I had them down to draw, but have to admit doubting even that result. Mikel A. is proving to be very important to EFC and long may he continue to be so. Early days but it’s all very encouraging isn’t it....the sun is shining blue today for all the right reasons!!!

Fantastic stuff last night, three goals and loads more chances (AJ and Arteta were both unlucky) and some genuine periods of quality attacking football on top of the resolute defence we’ve built over the last few years.

Hmmm, it’s almost like the manager planned it, progressively assembling and enhancing his core squad over successive seasons...

Noticeably haven’t heard much from Tony Marsh and his doom-mongering cronies, just as well there’s still Kirkby to moan about or they might have to find a new allegiance...I understand Spurs are in need of some hardcore support to bolster their constant bitching, moaning and leaving with 20 minutes to go...

Thank god we played well last night. I am a big fan of sky tv but the lack of respect shown to Everton last night was shocking.

Richard keyes should be sacked. We have finished 4th and 6th in the last three years. Why are we still considered to be overachieving? Punching above our weight???

Everton FC need to get a bloody good PR firm in to sort out our image. We are never mentioned in the press. man City got more publicity than us when they were in Division 2 !!

No publicitiy = no investor.

Sort it out Everton and tell Sky to pull their socks up

Sky can talk about Tottenham all they like. They are a chequebook team, with a one-way ticket to underachievement. Our squad has continuity, character and experience. If we start throwing our name around, and self-promoting our brand, we will end up attracting overpaid pre-madonnas like half the spurs team, with no real desire to play for the club. All our starting 11 know their roles, and there is a massive team spirit and resilience to any challenge we come up against. I would rather have honest, hardworking players (Stubbs, Osman, Carsley, Neville etc) who want to wear the shirt.
Last night was a truely fantastic performance, and if we break into the top 4, we will be hard to shift. In Moyes we trust.
