The Ups and Downs

Comments (1)

I'm 24 years old and work in a mundane job in a mundane town. I've spent the entire summer sifting through the various pages of this and other related websites and I ended up stressed, unhappy and endlessly wondering what direction we were going in. Did I ever get the feeling that we were a consolidated top 6/7/8 team or was it just another great attempt but ultimately our frailties would show us up?

Well, that was the first few months anyway... then the stadium debate took full control and nothing else seemed to matter. I'm still not sure either way although I've read everyone's views on it and I think they all put forward valid, well thought-out and true blue opinions.

Having checked the site on a regular basis, two to three times a day, often reading over the same articles, I began to construct images of what the new season would bring: new faces? new stadium ideas? new league status? I eventually listened intently on Saturday and was pleased with the result; I again listened even more intently last night and was overwhelmed (I was brought up in Hertfordshire where me and my brother were practically the only Everton fans in a 20-mile circumfrance and built up a steady hatred of THFC!!).

I realised that I love this club, no matter what. We have the ability to really do anyone, we have the smallest squad around but at least I get the feeling they all care. We're not the best, but we try; we haven't got a billionaire owner (which I'm glad about, who wants us to roll over to some American or Russian big head?? Really?). I know that the season will bring many ups and downs but I also know that I'll love it.

I'm sitting at my desk with 10 minutes of my lunch break left and all I want to do is look at past and present players histories, maybe see what there favourite music is, or even see if we get a tiny mention on the BBC website!?? I know it's a short piece but i'm passionate and there may be more to come!

Andy, time to change that job before your brain turns to sponge and you start writing meaningless posts on websites.........
