Getting the Vote
Comments (3)
As a current and long standing season ticket holder, I have waited patiently for my voting slip on the proposed move to nowhere land, after a week of so of waiting for the drop of the letter through the letterbox, I got fed up of waiting and contacted the Electoral Reform Society, to inform them that I had not recieved the all important piece of paper, they informed me that they would contact "we`ve cocked up again" EFC and that everything would be sorted!,
Coming on a week later, I contacted them again to see where we were up to, they then made a statement which set the alarm bells ringing. Everton had not forwarded any updated lists, hence people who had bought season tickets for this season would not receive any voting form. I then put the phone down in a hurry and rang Everton, only to join a queue of people waiting to contact them.
Now I can usually get a smile on my face when I hear the Z Cars theme, but it does wear a bit thin after 20 minutes, I eventually spoke to someone at the club and was getting nowhere until I mentioned "Do the media know about this fiasco?" and everything changed, I was promised that they would contact the Electoral Reform Society. 5 minuted later I recieved a phonecall from Everton saying they had done this and that my voting paper would be in the 1st post. Great delight Everton top of the league and my voting slip arrived today, now all I have to do is vote.
I agree that Goodison is very dated, but can we realistically fill a new 50,000 seater stadium with increasing year on year ticket prices, we struggle to get half decent attendences for FA Cup and League cup games, what will happen when we all ditch Sky? "Keep football on a Saturday" I say and all clubs have their own TV stations and will sell to individual subscribers, look at pre-season friendlies to see the future, grounds will be empty!
I believe that Blue Bill has "our" club at heart; remember the demonic red before him, he stripped the club bare! However, I also believe that Bully has to go, the figures do not add up and you cannot back yourself into a corner with nowhere to go and your hands tied. This is EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB, THE PEOPLE'S CLUB ? not some backward small amateur club in Scotland, where they sell their soul for a dram and piece of haggis. Keep near to the top of the league and the investors will come! Therefore I will vote against the move and will wait with baited breath for the outcome. Come on you Blues!

If that was the case why did Sunderland get their investment when they had just been relegated? Why does does it appear that Southampton are about to be purchased by Bill Gates’ mate? Why did Manchester City get investment (albeit from a corrupt politician!) while they were in danger of relegation and while we were busy qualifying for Europe? Why were Newcastle bought out when they haven’t won anything since Methusalah was a a lad?
That’s what worries me about much of the ’NO’ vote...they are delusional.
