Sky stats???

Comments (10)

Did anyone see the man of the match interview last night on Sky with Stubbs and MOTM Osman?

Who was doing the interview as his stats where laughable, "So three defenders scored tonight and that's your first goal of the season Leon." WTF!!! Stubbs and Osman faces where a sight as they walked off both thinking "fooking tool".

Is it so hard to get your stats right if that's your job, for Sky yes it is. Very minor thing but couldn't believe it myself, thought it was quite funny!!

Being of the pre-Sky generation, I find their dreadful lack of professionalism never ceases to astound me. I just thought it was they way standards change (ie, decline) over time but the comments recently, esepecially about Andy Gary's commentary, suggest something deeper.

the sky coverage last night was almost laughable, talk about wanting a spurs win, it was all about tottenham playing badly rather than us making them look ordinary

but then again its nothing new, as long as we keep winning who cares what others think.

Just to clear up, when he said three defenders scored he meant Stubbs, Lescott and Gardner.

To be fair to the sky interviewer I think he was refering to Lescott, Stubbs & Gardner.

But I have to agree with the biased opinions of sky. Tottenham are now one of the big boys having won nothing but spent a fortune.

We know that 3 defenders scored - the error is that it wasn’t Osman’s first goal of the season...

Let’s be honest, it’s been like that for years and years. Hopefully they’ll be forced to take us seriously when we win the UEFA cup and finish 3rd. Then again they’ll probably just choose to ignore it and predict us to finish 11th like we did last season (?!??!?!).

I don’t think many of the football-following public really care about us, to be fair. We’re still playing catch up in the ’hearts and minds’ game. When the Premiership,as we know it now, really took off we were shit. Evertonians suffered through the hard times because we love the club, but why the fuck would anyone else care?.. Alot of people not associated with the club still have that kind of image as us. Out of six guys I work with, all of them big into their football, real knowledgable folks, they all see us as the drab, grey, long-ball scrappers, perenially facing the threat of relegation... They laugh when I talk of Lescott for England, smirk when I point out Arteta’s world-class quality..

although not solely to blame, of course this is not helped by Sky and MOTD in particular. I’m amazed how little my mates know about us. We’re Everton FFS! Why do we only merit 60 seconds (if lucky) at the end of MOTD? Why do Sky approach a televised game solely from the Spurs perspective? Why did I have to search online all day for an article that reported a positive Everton victory, and not just a Spurs defeatslip-upshockcrisis?

It’s mad when you actually think about it. This neglect is a harsh fact, but it’s up to us as a club to change the public’s perception of us. Fuck Sky! Fuck the BBC! WE know who we are.. We’re Everton.

They’ll all come runnin’ if we keep up this form anyway, so I wouldn’t get too worked up about it.

The longer Sky and the rest ignore and underestimate us the better. I prefer it that the team are left to get on with their business because we are deemed an unfashionable side.

You only have to look at last nights line up of Ledly King and ex red shite McAllister to see that the coverage was geared toward the home team. Richard Keys’ insistence towards the panel at half time that ’there are definitely more goals in this game’ was wishful thinking. I find it hard to believe and a little bit hurtful that Andy Gray ever wore the Everton shirt as he is so dismissive of us. Having said that, any time Peter Reid is on he always nails his colours firmly to the mast.

It?s been a great start to the season. Keep it up lads!

Remember during the interview Osman cheekily said he stuck out a foot and would be claiming the third goal to which Stubbs replied "that ones mine son".

Then at the end of the interview the commantator made some comment about Osman’s first goal, I thought he was adding to the joke about Osman trying to claim the Stubbs goal?

If there was ever a legitimate reason to use the word "Traitor" then Andy Gray would be it. That twat passed up the opportunity to manage us so he play around with his fucking tiddly-winks. As for numb nuts Keys well it’s obvious he failed to make the transition from a numpty breakfast television present to a supposed knowledgeable football presenter. Last time I tuned into Sky sports they were celebrating Keys 500th game or someit and brought out a cake with candles on. I cancelled my subscription forthwith

Sky only care about the money and headlines.
For all the good they have done moneywise to English football it has come at a big price now that the soul has gone.
Even MOTD are into this ’Second’ tier of the Premier League crap, but at least they give credit where it’s due. Shame the highlights of our games don’t merit much time though.
