The Bestway Loop stadium images

Comments (14)

The initial pictures of the proposed Bestway Loop Stadium are horrible! A bog-standard bowl with a weird tower thing stuck on one end.

I don't know what KEOIC will make of the proposed design. Their proposal for redeveloping Goodison goes on and on about how the four-sided two tier stadium we currently have is the essence of Everton.

Anyone can come up with some nice-looking (or not) computer generated pictures of a stadium - as opponents of Kirkby have pointed out.

What's lacking with the Loop proposals so far (and the redeveloped Goodison option)is any proper information about how it would be paid for (all we have so far in each case is the idea of building a hotel as part of the new stadium).

I've had a feasibility study done myself and I reckon I could get a Rolls Royce Phantom in my garage - IF SOMEONE ELSE WOULD PAY FOR IT

Stadium Images are horrible. Dont want that bowl design, need one with 4 identifiable sides to it so the fans are close to the pitch, and can sit in an "end" with a name!

Try again please!

Initially looks very nice and I like the tower idea. My only reservations is that its a 50,000 seater stadium proposed. I can't see much space for future expansion if, and one would hope that it would be in time as we grow as a force and continue to improve, it was required.

fantastic retort David, to be honest the low res pics on the tw and keioc don’t do the idea any favours, look at this one on kipper http://www.bluekipper.com/stadium/stadium2.htm#lpr

granted if you don’t like the design you still won’t like it but as an exercise it at least proves that a stadium does not need to be confinded to the central area of the loop, engineers can easily build over the carriageways. It was Mr Wyness who questioned if a 50,000 seater stadium could be positioned on the site, I for one look forward to some further images and explanations before deciding.

All they have shown is that you can fit a very ordinary bowl stadium into an unbelievably tight space with no room for expansion...EVER!

They should have checked the survey that EFC done themselves regarding stadium design and noted that the fans want a four sided traditional stadium

David: Perhaps if you included it as part of a regeneration scheme for your front garden the local council could give you a grant?!

The purpose of these images is just to give an idea of how a ground could fit in the space - and it fits. The tower idea is brilliant - more iconic architecture for the city.

Let’s give Bestway time, see what they come up with. It has to be worth holding on if it means even an outside chance that we don’t have to go to Kirkby. And if HOK are the preferred designers, then that’s just fantastic - they make Barr look like a bunch of cheap Scottish League small time builders.

David Torley, someone finally saying it how it is, and the images are rancid.

I think Andy Van Der Meyde drew up those stadium plans when he was sauced !!

I think some people have missed the point of the picture which is merely to show a 50,000 seater stadium would fit. If you read the item you will clearly see that this is not a design by HOK by a rendition of what can fit the space. Whilst I agree that the funding still remains the major nail in the coffin, we have yet to hear the complete proposal.

I personally prefer a four sided stadia myself as put by Bob I like the idea of definitive stands or ends. I can’t write this off yet as I haven’t heard all the details.

If you forget the aesthetics of the design for a minute there are three fundamental flaws with this ’effort’:

1. 50,000 fans will be entering and leaving the stadium from the Great Homer Street side of the ground. That will be horrific.

2. Its not as easy as Colin Fitz has implied to construct over the Tunnel carriageways. Your talking about potentially closing (or definitely restricting) these accesses for a significant period of time - I simply do not believe this will be permitted.

3. We are talking big, big money for constructing above these carriageways, especially as it appears that the tower is directly above them.

It is all physically possible, unfortunately its unlikey to be financially possible.

Disgraceful images. No night-time depictions! Pah. Not even a sight of an upward pointing searchlight! Tch. Only one Everton badge!! Grrr. Where?s Labby? Where?s the ?People?s Club? gimmickery? Fhhh. Not even one incorporation of the club?s big bold ?Everton? typeface logo!! Cuh. And where are the fans, hey? Just a load of Anthony Gormley statues outside! Fzz. And how dare they show the aerial orientation of the ground and its proximity to the surrounding environment!! The cheek of them telling us that these are only initial renderings and there?s more to come. Oh and who invited them to ask WSP and HOK to get involved? Anyway, who are they when they?re at home? And then they have the bertie-big-steelones to tell us that HOK and WSP are gonna conduct a feasibility study and furthermore these HOK geezers are gonna have the brassneck to produce images of their own! HOK?!! HOK?!! Who they? HOKey-COKey more like. Yeerr. Oh and hey, make me LOL, they talk as though they haven?t realised this is the ?11th hour?. Nerve or what? Well let me tell these global no-marks: it?s ain?t just the ?11th hour?, my friends, it?s already ?five to midnight?. Bill and Keith said so. Howdja like those apples, then! Go on, do one.

It already looks better than that ’out of the box’ un-inspiring stadium proposed for Kirkby....
Greg Murphy you got it spot on. It’s not a proposed design just an indication that What Wyness told us ("You can’t even fit a shed in the loop") is incorrect!!!
Please dont start pulling holes in this rough design until you’ve seen the full proposal.
